These are silly questions...but I just want to make sure we are right.

On the N-400, in part 8 in Asks about your Spouse.

The Spouses Family Name (Last Name) -

now is this her maiden name our her current last name?

part 8 - G

"How many times has your current spouse been married (including annulled marriages)

-do I write 1 if she is married just to me?

I get hung up on the wording...so I just want to make sure Im doing it write.

thanks

Sounds like you are a male, though hard to tell by these crazy handles people use, and your spouse is a female with a maiden name and all that. So what name has she been using the last three years, and what name is on all of your shared evidence? That should be the name she uses. Know of some married couples where the female still goes by her maiden name, at work, drivers' license, certificates, etc., probably why when filing a joint 1040 return, they give you a blank for each last name as your spouse can have a different last name than yours. Common around where I live where two married doctors get hitched where the woman prefers to use her maiden name as would cost a small fortune to get all of her certificates and degrees changed over. But they are still legally married.

Have to list the TOTAL number of marriages of your spouse, including your present marriage. Can be a problem if your spouse was previously married a hundred times and all to immigrants.

thanks..got it.

Im actually a female but I wrote it from the voice of a male rather than explaining that its him thats filling it out and me with all the questions because I become absolutly neurotic about filling out these forms.

I think i got the clarity I needed.

Thanks,

Sarah
