Denied entry at Rainbow Bridge

I can relate to this posting as well. Darcy was denied at a land border last May. He was photographed and fingerprinted. He was also given a list of items to bring the next time he tried to cross. In June, he was able to get on a plane with no questions asked. He has since been back in December 2005 by plane and May 2006 by land border with no questions asked. I guess its hard to say what might happen if your boyfriend tries the plane route.

Ahhh, you guys give me hope! My boyfriend is still feeling very dejected and hopeless about the whole thing, but I'm anxious to have him try again and see what happens so we can go to plan B if necessary.

Much thanks!

Jen & Darcy - A question for you...how long did Darcy stay during the visits once allowed entry and also how long was stated when the denial was issued? We're concerned that the closer to the 90 day deadline for a visitor visa, the more likely he is to be denied again. He was initally planning a 6-8 week stay.......Thanks again!

funny reading this thread ... we have not even filed the K1 appliacation yet and the CO's are already getting suspicious!!!

as i do most summers, I visit frequently. i go down for weekends or weeks/months at a time. i have visited the past two weekends and will again this weekend (with tonnes of others for the 4th) and both times they asked to see inside my trunk and once asked me outright if i was moving in slowly.

i know that i'm being a nervous ninny (but always am when crossing) however am very concerned about beind denied. i usually cross at the peace bridge (occassionally queenston lewiston) but will for sure avoid the rainbow bridge now! do you think my frequent crossings could raise unnecessary suspicion if i'm only carrying across only what i need? i am supposed to go down for a month in august and am fearful that they won't let me cross once i arrive.

Good luck, Miss American Pie... and gl to us all!

I think anything is possible at this point, not to make you more nervous than you already are. I am so sidelined by him being denied, noone in my family or friends can believe it. He's never had any trouble when flying down and staying several weeks at a time. My Mom's family is from Quebec, and I can't tell you the number of times we've taken family trips back and forth across the border over the years with little more than a where do you live and have a great trip! This was truly a rude awakening in what I assume is chalked up to a post 9/11 world.......Best of luck to you also!

When he came in June, he stayed for 6 weeks. In December 2005, he stayed for 3 1/2 weeks. In May 2006, he stayed for 16 days. He was denied in May 2005 because he couldn't show ties back to Canada.

Its never a guarantee when crossing the border if you will get across or not. Just be honest and answer only what is asked of you.

my husband (US citizen) came to pick me up in canada on the june 9-11th weekend.

we only live an 8 hour drive apart.

we crossed the border sunday morning and it was a breeze.

i brought along my rental agreement, our NOA1s and some bank statements.

they looked at it, stamped our passports, entered some stuff in the computer and told us to have a good trip.

i think it all depends on the border officer.

he was so nice and helpful, he even said that i could stay for up to six months.

that was almost three weeks ago now, and i am gonna stay until mid-august.

it is so nice being here.
