Reeiving new russian passport in US

Hello everyone!

Well, I got myself into trouble by not thinking of starting the process earlier... So here it goes:

because my internal passport has expired a while ago and external one was about to expire when I finally was about to send all the stuff for my new passport in Russian Embassy asked me to do "proof of russian citizenship" procedure first. It is when they send request for whatever to Russia and waiting for reply. Well, it suppose to take not longer then 3 month... Guess what??? my 5th month just started ticking!!! I call them every week trying to at least annoy them so they will do something but so far no results...

Have you ar your spouse been in the same situation??? What can I do??? What are your thoughts???

04/09/2008 I-130 sent to Chicago Lockbox

05/03/2008 call to USCIS because NOA1 not received ;( Got the receipt number and was told that we cannot get replacement NOA1.

08/21/2008 request for NOA1 for I-130 to file AOS placed over the phone and forwarded to VSC. Thanks to the first great Rep at USCIS hotline

10/17/2008 Hubby`s B-day, NOA1 for I-130 finally arrives!

10/21/2008 AOS sent to Chicago lockbox

10/31/2008 NOAs for AOS received

11/06/2008 I-130 is transferred to CSC

11/20/2008 biometrics done

12/02/2008 I-130 APPROVED!!!

01/02/2009 EAD received

02/12/2009 Interview APPROVED!!!

02/17/2009 welcome letter received

02/23/2009 GC received!!! yay!!!

11/18/2010 I-751 Sent to VSC

11/22/2010 NOA1

01/07/2011 Early Bio

01/27/2011 Scheduled Bio

05/11/2011 RC approved

05/17/2011 GC received

Naturalization

11/14/2011 Sent package via Priority to Nebraska SC

11/25/2011 NOA made it

Relocated to NE

04/03/2012 Interview passed!!!

04/10/2012 Oath

04/10/2012 New prints required/done

04/14/2012 Received a welcome packet but still no certificate

04/17/2012 Certificate is here!!!!! Dated 04/16/2012 huh????

You guys are doing something wrong. The first step you should be doing before any of your documents expire is to register with the local Russian consulate. Then you can use their services like getting a new passport in one month. That has been our experience at the San Francisco location.

Took us 6 months through embassy in Washington.

If at first you don't succeed, then sky diving is not for you.

Someone stole my dictionary. Now I am at a loss for words.

You can't register with the consulate until you abandon your residence in Russia. If you still have property and propiska in Russia, you are considered to be temporary residing in the USA by Russian authorities.

Yes, it takes that long. Russia is know for its red tape even abroad.

May 8, 2008 - 10 year Green card arrived

Naturalization

July 24, 2008 - NOA1

November 19, 2008 - Interview

January 9, 2009 - Oath

January 17, 2009 - applied for US passport

January 26, 2009 - US passport arrived

DONE WITH IMMIGRATION

My wife was more than happy to abandon her residence in Russia considering she owned no property and probably would never have the means to do so. Also her family had to pay extra in communal expenses for each person who was registered, therefore, she was already unregistered when she registered at the consulate.

When she returns to visit for a month or so she doesn't get any problems with the propiska because she has her consulate registration valid in all parts of the country.

Now in about 6 months you should have your new passport!
