"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Most of Europe is boring and drab

Check out some Asian countries

Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia

You will maximize your money to the max

While I agree that Asia is wonderful I feel you experiences of Europe are limited. Barcelona, Rome, Nice, Berlin, Munich, London, Paris, Edinburgh, Oslo, Florence, Prague etc (I could go on) are all very different cities and cultures. The flights between them are cheaper than the trains and each have rich history and culture (as well as the night life etc). Europe can be travelled on a budget if you stick to the main cities. Europe is so diverse.

Ha, one of two places, those you visit that makes your home feel like a dump when you come back, or those that makes it seem like a palace.

Just don't drink the water, in that case, no place like home.

To me, the USA has a lot to offer, and anytime of the year can find a place to either snow ski or lay on the beach, and some of the best National and State parks in the world. If traveling via the airlines, not really that bad, but international travel, especially when coming back is a really big pain in the a$$. And normally, can drink good water anyplace. May even be lucky and meet someone that speaks English here, but better hurry, that is getting rare.

We only live 65 miles away from the world famous Sparta Bike trail and meet people from all over the world, 90 miles from the EAA show, another world event, and 57 miles from Iola, that has the world's largest antique car show. We are planning on the Rockies this summer taking our dog and motorhome.

Goto Cambodia! Geezes, no one ever thought of going there. You can live on $100/month! :D

Yeah.. I did not even though Cambodia as an option.... I will check all the information about the two cities that Fozzie suggested...

Check this website out: http://www.tauck.com/journeys/travel-type/two-week/

They have everything. Just check by month on the upper left-hand corner because I clicked on a vacation package to Chile/Argentina/Brazil and it wasn't available until September. Looked pretty nice though, the first 2 days you stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Santiago, Chile.....

.....If I were you guys I'd choose something in South America cause you could communicate in Spanish but there are so many options it will be nearly impossible to decide.

My husband does not speak Spanish, so he wants to go to a country where English is spoken.... Great link by the way thank you!!!

If you haven't traveled abroad much, Europe is a good choice. Easier to travel to multiple countries within 1 or 2 weeks. My wife's sister lives in Germany so we're hoping to go back there in a trip including Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Tunisia. If you want to see something different check out China or India.

I have not traveled abroad, so basically any country we decide to go is going to be really exiting... I though about going to Venice or Tuscan...

My top three picks of places I've been are:

Belize (Cheap, not too far away and you can communicate in English.)

Italy (Cheaper than northern Europe anyway.)

Spain (Cheaper than northern Europe anyway.)

Pick of places I haven't been but can't wait to visit next:

Greece

Thailand

Iran

Spain maybe a good option as well as Greece...

A friend told me to go to Cancun and then take a bus to the Belize border and then flight to San Pedro, Belize... that would be interesting, I really doubt Brent would like to spend 5 hours sitting in a bus though... lol and there are not direct flight from Cancun to Belize which is a shame.

Mainland China is fun, Beijing with Forbidden City, and the Great Wall, Xi'an with the Teracotta Worriors, Shanghai with its modern western flavor, Guilin with it's spectacular landscapes...

Keep in mind a green-card holder from Mexico will need a visa to visit most countries outside of North America, where a US Citizen may not.

I was forgettin that little important detail... I'm going to check what countries I will need a visa...

If you are going to go to one European country go to France.

The North and South of the country are almost like two different countries in every way, well I guess besides the fact they all speak French.

If you want to do Europe, Greece is AMAZING. Santorini is one of the most romantic places ever and there is so much history and culture. Stay away from Athens though, most people I've heard say its boring. I went for 2 days and that was enough.

Saying that, I'd go somewhere more exotic. EVERYONE goes to Europe, blah. It's free, get the expensive tickets and go to Asia or Africa or somewhere cool. Plus you can live for much less $$ and have cool stories that most Americans wont have. And if you still can't decide, I can go for you ;)

I will check Santorini ...
