Ask ko lang po. To all Pinays.

I was wondering kasi about this. What middle name is everyone using after they got married to their USC hubby?

Are you using your maiden surname as your middle name just like what is the usual Philippine practice? or do you retain your middle name (which is your mother's maiden surname)?

I am confused by this.

Thanks.

Thanks. actually, that's what i was thinking but my fiance had me confused because he was confused too.

he's used to having just two names with the second name as the middle name. but since i have three names aside from the middle name, he thinks my other two names should be part of my middle name. i think we're both going crazy...

My paternal last name became my middle name and my husband's last name became my last name.

Thanks.

Hi. I have a friend who is doing her AOS right now. She decided to use her mother's last name to be her middle name for some reasons. We don't know yet if the USCIS will allow it. She is using her husband's last name.

hopefully there wont be any problem. i mean in the US, they dont give a big deal about changing your name after u get married... at least thats what the lady told me (she works on the county record and who helped us process our marriage cert)... she said its not mandatory to have a middle name... although since we're filipinos, its gona be a trouble if we amend our passport or report our marriage and the name has change that is somewhat different to our law/tradition by using our maiden name as our middle name... so i suggest (just suggestion) to base our name change in Filipino way.

yea... that's the filipino way and if i were to stay in the philippines, there wouldn't be any problem.

i was concerned because it confuses my fiance and i was thinking maybe when we apply for AOS this would become a problem.

anyways, thanks for the reply. :P :P

i think if you are asked what is your middle name by an American, give your second given name.

if you are asked for a maiden name, then that's you father's surname.

either way, it is confusing.. but while you're still here.. stick with the Philippine tradition. Once you are in the US, you can choose to just follow their tradition for conformity and to prevent other people from being confused.

I've read somewhere when somebody changed their status in the US and the officer in the USCIS clarified this issue.

You can stick with the Philippine tradition, it shows all your name. Given Middle Maiden Surname
