time to interview date- after packet is received

Hello everyone,

I applying for my fiance in Iran at the Ankara, Turkey embassy. I have always heard in the past that once the embassy receives the packet they will usually inform you of your interview date about 6-8 weeks in advance. I know someone who is also applying through Ankara for their Iranian fiance and they have just received their interview date, but it is in 4 months! I have checked the website's interview schedule and all of the dates before then are not filled yet.

Does anyone know if this normal or not? Should I expect the same thing??

I know that first come is not always first served, at least when it comes to USCIS. We both applied at the same time and she got her NOA2 2 months before me. Does anyone know if the same thing can happen with the embassy? Like if they give out random interview dates or if they do everything in chronological order.

Can anyone speak from experience?

Our interview was scheduled about 10 days after they got our packet and it is set for 2.5 months in advance. For the most part, they don't schedule randomly. It goes in order. Things are probably a little slower right now, because of the president's visit this week. If your packet was complete, you should hear from them by email in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, I know that we can really only know for sure when we get our actual appointment date. It makes me crazy at the timing of this whole presidential visit!! Of all the places they could have gone at any time of year! lol, just my luck.....
