My 2 kids and I are going to the Philippines this April 16, we will be there for 3 months. I am a dual citizen as well as my kids, but they don't have Philippines passport. My question is, what do i need to use to enter the Philippines, US passport or Phils. passport since we'll be there for 3 months?

What are the advantage and disadvantages of using US or Phils. passport?

Meron po ba ditong dual citizen, ano pong magandang gawin?

Please, help me. Thanks

Philippine passport requires a visa since you're holding a blue passport already its better to use that for the hassle free

In coming in the country (PI), it's better to use your Philippine passport. The advantage? You'd be saved from the hassle of going to the Immigration office just to renew your stay in the Philippines for a fee. I believe if you use your US passport, you'd only be allowed to stay for 28 days max, after that, you have to appear in the immigration office for extension.

You will have to go to the immigration for your kids' extension though but you will save a little if you don't have to include yours.

Hi Islander,

As a 'Balik-bayan' you and your children can stay there for up to one year without a visa.No need to pay anything unless you overstay. You just have to show proofs of Philippine Citizenship.Bring your Old Philippine Passport and Birth Certificate when you travel. As for your children, you need to present their Birth Certificates as well, establishing your relationship with them as their mother. This is the privilege given by our Philippine Government to former Filipinos like you who are now naturalized citizen of the United States who wish to visit Philippines for tourism purposes.Use your US passports and do NOT forget the very important documents that you will need to show at the immigration.

Hope this helps and have a safe trip!

Your welcome. Anyway,I forgot to mention that your husband needs to write a letter of consent that states he is allowing you to bring the kids to Philippines since he will not be going with you.The letter should have the departure/returning dates (base it on your tickets) he sign it and should be notarized.Bring some family pictures or pictures of you with the children when you travel because some immigration officers would ask for it.
