I've been so busy with the Borah Symposium that I am wondering what is going on with the G20 and Obama and Great Britain. I haven't had time to catch up with anything they are all talking about.

Anyone give me a run down?

Ok I'm just learning there were protesters. This is the most bizarre protest I've ever read. Really good descriptions of what's going on there the msnbc article above goes into the elaborate ceremony at the Queen's palace which is good for entertainment. It also gives the actors but there are 20 countries involved and France may walk out if there is no set financial plan made.

Lots of importance things happened according to the U.S. media. Mrs. Obama touched the Queen and the Queen liked it. Obama dazzled the other 19 leaders even as a newbie and confirmed his celebrity status after the Indian PM asked for Obama's signature.

There were the usual riots about everything and nothing.

Oh, yeah, the leaders gave a trillion dollars to the IMF. Little coverage on that.

I've read a couple articles on what went down in the meeting from the New York Time, Reuters, BBC, and USA Today. I think the preliminary reports from various organizations were more concerned with the honeymoon of Obama and the traditional ceremonial stuff as well as with humanizing the story by peopleizing it with the protesters. One thing brought to my attention in the Borah Symposium is that world leader and academics are seeing an awakening in America with the election of Obama. It's easy to say it's celebrity status but I wouldn't take away from the fact that it was a historic event and means a lot to not just the movement and support in America and the support he still retains but that world leaders and people globally are also moved. Those are facts that can't be denied. I was surprised by how much this was mentioned at the Symposium and touched that it meant something to these people I admire and look up to as well.

What movement? If your referring to civil rights in America, two generations have grown up since the 1960s so having a black president isn't that strange unless you're over say 60 years old.

I am referring to the one that elected the first black president of the U.S. and the landslide of support he won by. The one that world leaders like the former Prime Minister of Norway Dr. Gro Harlem-Brundtland mentioned in her speech at the Borah Symposium. The one that leaders and academics from Washington D.C. commented on and recognize. The one that many world leaders and the global community and media have also recognized and is still important to many and touched upon by the speech Obama gave after the G20 conference.

A nameless movement and winning 53% of the vote is now a landslide? Obama's win wasn't even in the top 10 as percentage of U.S. presidential popular votes.

Dr. Gro Harlem-Brundtland and her landslide victory changed the world as well. Obama's charisma can't hide his disasterous economic plan forever. Even the French and Germans couldn't back so much government spending. No other nations want to contribute more troops to fight in Afghanistan so much for allied unity.

Landslide in the 365 electoral votes vs. the 173 electoral votes. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/

What is disastrous about Obama's economic plan? Encase you haven't noticed in the recent reports and Obama's speech to the people he has said America can't do this alone and the G20 united with him on this and the conference is seen as a success with more than they all could hope for in the outcome. Things are looking good and Obama's first 100 days in office aren't even up yet. As for the contributing of troops they were never with us to begin with. That is why we went in nearly alone at first.
