When you sent your package to NVC did you include 2 copies of PCC ( 1 from Local Police office and 1 from Passport office)? I only sent one from passport office, but my lawyer just told me that we need 2 copies because of Mumbai Consulate requirements.

Please let me know and thanks for all your help.

Depends upon which state you are from, each state has their own rules for giving out PCC, took me around 1 month from Andaman Islands, where as it took only a week for someone else from Punjab.

If you are doing everything through your lawyer, how come your lawyer sent the package without rechecking if all the papers are included or not. Thats bad on the lawyers part.

when your spouse did the PCC from the local police off...did they ask him from how far back he wants clearance? They asked my wife if she wants it from the date of her birth or from 2000.

Yes, they asked my wife to fill out a form requesting the date range she wanted clearance from. I used the same dates that were listed on the G-325A question about the towns she had lived in since the age of 16.

Do we need to show any documents regarding visa application to our local police station Or they will give PCC without us it?

Ben,

For local police certificate, you need to go to the district police office. Since you already send the documents, there is a possibility that you might receive a RFE for not submitting that. Anyways, try to see if you can involve some politician or something to get this in a week or so. Some states it does take a few weeks.

For us, We submitted the application with the district police, and they took a copy of our filled DS230 form. DS230 form had the location and dates etc, so they used that.

After that, then it gets forwarded to the local police and they do the necessary investigation. I believe a police came or contacted my spouse.

If you can involve some politician who knows the district police well, then have them go with your spouse. And by the way, what state?

When my wife got her PCC, the local and district police officers took copies of the NOA2, and looked the I-130 file that I had sent my wife. The police stations seem to have their own requirements of what evidence they want to see in terms of the immigration file. But you will definitely need 3-4 passport pictures, and your passport when you go to the police station.
