Hello, so my head is currently a mess of dates and best/worst case scenarios right now! I've just been reading couple old threads about AP and found it's an 'option' (along with suspend and denial) on the 'blue slip' if that happens to you - right?

So does that mean if you were going to get put in AP or whatever, you would always find out on the day of the interview, or has anyone heard of any cases where someone was told they were approved at the interview but then were placed in AP after?

I know I'm thinking way ahead here already, but if (everything crossed!) we got approved at our interview, I would like to hand my notice it at work the following Monday (i.e. before I actually got visa-in-hand) - how safe do you think that is to do?

My understanding is it is rarer at London Embassy than in some other countries.

If you scrawl back through the interview thread you'll see that Dairyfarmers was put into AP when she'd been told her visa was approved at the interview. This was connected to an immigration issue in the past.

From Marm's posts I have gathered that it is more common for citizens of some (all?) Islamic countries who are resident in the UK to go into AP. I am sure she could explain this more fully.

I am not sure if a criminal history would trigger further checks at this stage or whether they would have been done at USCIS, NVC.

There may be some other reasons that might trigger it but I am not aware of them.

I think if your case is relatively straightforward ie: UK citizen, no previous immigration red flags (refusal under VWP shouldn't count as a red flag) it shouldn't be an issue. I haven't seen any threads about random AP processing at London Embassy.
