Is our K1 petition lost in the mail between the NVC and Rio??

Ok, so yesterday I was worried that my fiance had not yet received any paperwork from the embassy in Rio. I finally got through (via email of course) to the consulate in Rio de Janeiro and was told that as of today, our packet HAS NOT YET BEEN RECEIVED! The NVC sent it out on March 3, so it has been 2 weeks. I followed up with the NVC, and they said that once it has been sent, it is out of their hands and they can't help me. I've looked at similar timelines, and it seems like the embassy in Rio usually receives the packet within 3 to 5 days! Can anyone give me advice on this! I'm so afraid that our stuff got lost in the mail!!

This is happening to us too. NVC sent it out March 6 and as of today, nothing yet.

I think DHL and Brasil are a dangerous combination.

NOA 2. Really?

Seriously! I guess we just have to wait??

Yeah, I called the NVC tonight and they said Rio should get the electronic file almost immediately but that the hard copy should take 2 weeks. They also said they had no way to track where the hard copy was but that it is shipped DHL.

So I guess we wait; that embassy isn't much for "customer service". I think the person who answers their email only speaks Portuguese.

Took me about two weeks for the Rio Consulate to say they had the paperwork (after several emails)

Others had interview appointments set up by email-

In our case they are being coy and advising "to wait for a letter" so we are still waiting for

an appointment letter

I remember the wait for the documents to arrive in Rio but there was a way to track the documents using DHL tracking.

Hopefully this link would help with the tracking (I have not tried it):

If that doesn't work, look in the NVC forum for information how to search.

Good luck on the rest of the process.

I tried the DHL tracking trick, but Rio was totally unimpressed and just referred me back to NVC. :o

Ok, so on Wednesday we got 2 emails: The first in Portuguese, saying that it will take 2 to 3 weeks for them to receive our packet, the second (sent at the exact same time) in English saying they HAVE our papers and the interview is April 30th! ####### is going on there? So, keep emailing and see what answers you get. I'm so relieved they didn't lose our file, but seriously, they need to get their act together and not give us all heart attacks!!

That's good that you finally got an interview date. Good luck at the interview.

Just be prepared for long waits at all steps in the process. Seems like it will never end at times.
