We had our AOS interview on Monday June 19th in Columbus Ohio.

We had a 2:30 appt, and arrived about 1:45. There were alot of people waiting for infopass appts and AOS interviews. We were not called until 3:40, and were one of 2 couples left waiting. We did have a family friend with us to help Paiwan understand/answer the questions.

We went into the backroom and took the oath, then presented ID. The interviewer took her passport and removed the I-94 and put it into the file. Then the interviewer asked Paiwan a series of questions, to verify information in the file (what is your name, what is your husband's name, are you married, what is you address, what is phone number <she messed this up because she combined the home and cell numbers>, are you working, and yes/no questions from the application, where did you meet). Then I was asked questions (what is your name, still you do work at <job>, where did you meet, where did you get married, did you have a big or small reception, and do you have any additional evidence of your relationship you wish to submit). I submitted the additional information and asked if she wanted to see photos, to which she replied no.

then she told me we will receive a decision in the mail in 4-6 weeks. umm, ok. I tried to ask why we can't get a decision now but she just pushed us out.

I tried to figure out all the reasons why we may not have gotten a yes/no there. Maybe because of the translation? They may have video taped it and needed to verify the thai comments to make sure there was no coaching or answer giving. I don't know. thats just one guess. :(

Today, I got an email status on the case saying a Welcome Letter had been mailed out. So I assume this means she was approved?

I forgot to add the interviewer asked for acopy of the marriage certifacte, saying that was the only piece that was missing from the file. Even though one was sent with the application ... makes you wonder what happens to this stuff. But at least that was an easily remedied item.
