Hi all, here is the interview experience at Mumbai Consulate on March 5th, 2009. My wife went to the embassy on K-3 date to get CR1 visa. We had emailed earlier asking them if it is okay to come on K-3 date and have them process CR1 visa and they said it is up to you, you can come on any date we will merge both files. Okay, so she arrives at the embassy at 630 am and then she waits in the line for the security personnel. Around 700am, security personnel separated the lines by visa category, then security personnel started checking to see if any one has bags or anything. They checked everything and they only allowed medical bag and they gave her a piece of wood for identification.

7:15am Waited in the line inside the embassy for finger prints

They made sure that visa letter is handy…

7:20am They took finger prints and took the visa letter, she gave both interview letters.

After finger print, her name was announced and then the Indian officer interviewed her and returned all original copies of birth certificate, marriage certificate and all…

7:40 She had interview with the Indian officer

Questions asked by the officer:

The officer asked if she wanted to have the interview in Gujarati or English

Who is the calling you?

What is his name?

Where does he work and what position?

Where were you working and what position?

The officer asked her for the original birth certificate copy in Gujarati

What is your husband’s date of birth and place of birth?

Then the officer said now you wait outside and someone will call you.

10:45am Interview with the white lady officer

The officer greeted her and my wife did the same!

She took the Oath…

She signed Part II of the DS 230.

Question asked by the white lady officer.

When and where did you marry?

Was this a love marriage or arrange marriage?

How did you get married?

What is your education history?

Are you planning to work in US?

With whom your husband stays?

Where does he work and what position?

Where did you work?

Show a picture where you two are together?

Does your husband have any siblings?

How many and where do they stay? ( and reasons why they stay there)

Congratulations, your visa is approved, you can collect passport at 5pm from VFS office.

Hope this is helpful to the people who are waiting...good luck to all!!!
