Hi, Everyone. I have some questions about the next step what I should do in case I don't receive my GC by my extedned experied date which is in Aug '09. I have sent my file (I-751) to TSC and received my NOA and Bio letter Then, my case was transfered to VSC. The USCIS online case status, it says that they transfered my case to VSC so I need to check up on VSC for processing time. And also they will send me a NOA to let me know that me case was transferd. Well, I didn't receive the letter. Ever since my BIo was taken, I have been checking my case but nothing has updated like not eveing saying "TOUCHED" or anything like that. I'm not too worried yet because the processing time says they are doning Mar '08, and I sent my file in May'08.

However, please anyone tell me what to do, if I don't receive anything till my extented date. I was going to visit my family in this fall assuming that I have received my GC.

Also, Do I need to wait to apply my N-400 till I get my GC?

Thank you.

Yes, you should be receiving your I-751 approval before a trip in the fall - sometime within the next few months. If, by any chance, you haven't received an approval and you are getting close to the expiry of your extension you would make an Infopass appointment at your local USCIS office and they will put an I-551 stamp in your unexpired passport. The stamp is usually good for a year, although there have been a few cases where the stamps are issued for 6 months and 3 months validity. Hopefully you won't have to worry about that and will receive your approval soon. VSC has been taking about 11 to 12 months to process applications and I expect that will continue for a few months yet. Files from June and on were transferred to California but it looks like May files are still at VSC.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thank you for your rresponding. I will wait till then and if I don't receive till my extented date, then I will go to get the stamp.

Do you know anything about N-400? Do I need to wait till I get my GC? or I could apply anyway?

You can apply for N400 whenever you are eligible - you don't have to wait for your I751 to be adjudicated.
