petition for step-child

Hi Everyone,

I have a ton of questions that some of you may be able to help me with.

long story short, my husband came here on K1 (approved March 24), 2008). We listed his daughter on the petition as "to-follow." We chose at the time to not issue her a visa, but do so at a later date.

We are to the point now where we are ready for his daughter to join us. So the question is, is it still possible to bring her over on a K2, or is it better to persue the I-130. Futher, which one is more cost effective at this point?

Thanks in advance,

May be too late to do K-2, it needs to be issued within 1 year after the K-1, in your case the K-1 was issued 3/24/08, which means K-2 needs to be issued sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Contact the consulate or DOS Visa services today and ask.

I-130 may be a bit more cost effective no adjustment of status. Only hitch, marriage needs to be before 17th birthday of child.

Thanks. I was leaning towards the I-130 b/c of cost. I understand it might be a little longer, but my SO's daughter is only 6, so age is not a problem.

thanks for the numbers, I will give them a call and see what they have to say.
