I had my interview appointment rescheduled. On the letter you receive it gives directions for how to do so - basically a written explanation of why you need it rescheduled. In my case, apparently the first letter I sent didn't make it to the correct office - even though I had DC from USPS. After the original appointment date, I received a "please explain" letter about the missed appointment - I then wrote to them, again, and explained. In my case, the original interview was early Sept - as I was working out of state, I requested the interview be rescheduled after 18th Dec. My interview was rescheduled to 6th Jan.

At the interview, the fact that the appointment was rescheduled was not mentioned.

So, my experience would be that it is possible to reschedule an interview, provided you have a good reason for doing so. However, it is not a request I would make lightly. And, be very careful of the address you send it to - make sure you include "room numbers" etc if possible.

Hope that helps, please feel free to ask more specific questions.

I just re-scheduled my interview. It took about one month to get a new interview date ( my signature has more exact dates) even though Hartford, CT is one of the slower district offices. And, the interview date moved from 3/25 to 4/7 (the earliest I could have done was 4/1) which is hardly a delay.
