Found it! The charts. He hints at the reason why it takes so long for the CO2 to be sequested, but does not state it in the article. Most of the carbon dioxide is converted by the plantlife into carbohydrates and hence, larger, and more numerous plants. As the atmospheric CO2 further declines, the vigorous plant growth can no longer be supported, and the decaying vegetation becomes incorporated in to the soil, and eventually that material is again sequestered further in the sediment.

Add to that [artificial] deforestation.

And the fact that a growing, respiring (major output: CO2), animal population, on top of industrial sources... don't help plants out that much.

I was under the impression that plantlife thrives in a reducing atmoshere, that diatomic oxygen is the toxin to plantlife.

Plants also respire. A plant's choroplast population serves primarily for carbohydrate production from a CO2 source whereas we mainly serve that purpose within our cellular cytoplasm without a CO2 source.

Plants and animal life both possess mitochondria, the organelle that mostly uses up O2. Try the experiment of ONLY providing CO2 to a plant in a closed environment and you'll not get a very successful plant.

Gym time. Soon I will be contributing an increased amount of CO2 to the atmosphere. I apologize.

That's a pretty huge claim there. Hope you can substantiate it. Specially in this country.

On a VJ basis... show me where those nutjobs are.

On your first question, I am surrounded by them, where I live. Al Gore come to mind as far as a personality.

As for VJ, if I start naming names, I am afraid the PC posse will have me lynched! But, your shadow from the other night that just ran away to engage in gheysex with another VJ personality might give you a clue!

Yeah... not quite convinced on both accounts' lack of credibility but hey... this is VJ... where the ludicrous at times is accepted as fact. And where the factual is at times referred to as blind sheepness. Oh well.

Now I part ways.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Naaaa... scientists apparently don't matter, neither does scientific methodology when it comes to separating one thing from something else.

Shamans control the world's weather. Everybody know that!

Apparently so. And Tom Skilling.

All I know is when I go up to the dense forest in Northern Wisconsin, those trees grab me and suck in every bit of CO2 I exhale. It's bad when two equal sized trees grab you.

Well that's Northern Wisconsin for you.
