Hi, here is the situation. My uncle did the paperwork so he could bring his older brother over to the US. My uncle is a US citizen. He received the letter from the NVC in January 2006 saying all the paperwork will be forwarded to the consulate in China. It has been 6 months and my uncle in China still has not received or heard anything from the consulate/embassy in China. Is the long waiting period normal? Can anyone that has experience shed some light into the situation. How much longer will it take before my uncle in china gets his interview date?

Thank You!

I have asked my uncle here and he told me there is no phone number and the number online is just a machine. My uncle in China can't get a hold of a live person there either.

Thanks!

6 months does seem like a long time, but I have heard that Guangzhou is really slow. Have you checked timeslines for other people that have applied for the same type of visa?

Go to the GuangZhou web site. Read their 'contact us' info.

I think you may fax them re: your uncle's case.

Also, they will show you how to call them (pre-paid phone PIN # ) whether inside China or not.

Ensure you have WAC number in all communication.

As was stated earlier - China may be slow for this family related visa.

There is a way to contact them if you follow their instructions.

Hope this helps
