The NVC issued us a MNL number and has forwarded our petition to the US Embassy in Manila on March 7th.

My question is how can I track our petition's process?

What are anyone's thoughts on our projected timeline?

Also, if I wish to be there for the interview and our flight back to US, how many days should I plan on being in the Philippines?

Finally, what would be the best way to purchase her flight back to US?

I do not mean to be presumptuous of our approval; I am only looking forward and thinking of our options.

Thanks in advance for you thoughts.

Respectfully,

Robert

I agree with what Deaniwait said about getting the ticket, I have already purchased our tickets back to the states as I also plan to be there for the interview.

As far as the ride back, it really depends on what your final destination is. I see you are Nebraska USCIS office which means nothing actually. I purchased our tickets on Northwest Airlines. Her ticket, one way from Manila to Oklahoma city was $900. I purchased mine thru a consolidator for $975 round trip. I had to buy her ticket directly from Northwest Airlines as no one else would sell a one way on that flight.

As for how many days, that is really up to you, as Dean said it could take up to 10 days or possibly a wee bit more just to get the visa, depends where the visa will be sent to. We are going to ask for an Embassy pickup and show them the ticket, so hopefully we can get it in 2 days. If not we will have it delivered either to the hotel where we are or to an address in Cavite which is near Manila and it should not take more than 3 days to get there. I arrive on Apr 21, the interview is Apr 23, and we come back to the states on May 3. God willing.

As for tracking your file, you probably wont find out anything until they have given you an interview date. There is a phone number in Sheriff Uling's signature to the State Dept. It is area code 202 xxx xxxx. The call will be to Washington DC. They will have the info on or shortly after the 15th of the month. Which month is anyone's guess. From the NOA2 to interview for us is almost exactly 4 months. However it seems they are moving the interviews a little faster now. Your fiancee will receive a "pre interview letter". Some call this a packet 3, but it is only a letter stating they have received the file and they will soon be sending a packet 4 to her. It took a little over a month for us to get the packet 4 after receipt of the letter.

After you get the interview date she can take the physical at any time. We are taking ours a month early because my sweetie had some medical problems and if there was a problem at the Physical we wanted to have time to do any other tests they might want to do prior to the interview, othewise they would reschedule the interview for one or two months later.

Try to be Patient, unlike myself. haha

Best of luck to you and your fiancee, Dean

I will give you a counter opinion..... as I have first hand experience in this matter lol

ok as to buying tickets

as to buying tickets before you know if your honey is approved... DO NOT purchase tickets before she has the visa in hand.... that is a gamble that can cost you.. (at least 75$ or way more) it is never a wise thing to do to read consulate minds you will usually fail in your attempt.....

and as to buying airline tickets on roxas blvd there are 2 million travel agencies where you can purchase your tickets... if your girl is coming on a k1 visa she can get a first time immigrant discount which is 100 dollars off the price..... so going directly to the airline to get your ticket is usually not a wise idea only a last resort idea... I used manila international travel near the embassy to purchase my wife's one way ticket....

and if you wish to get your visa less than a week there are a million motels hotels 2 seconds away from the embassy have her and you stay there you will recieve your visa which 3 days if you r not in AR...... try jasmin's pension house bayview. duck inn.... or swagman's

and to tracking your visa status... instead of calling a phone number you can go to the embassy's website and put int your case number and get your interview date on the status link...... it is posted after the 15th of every month....... that may be more convienent than calling a DC beaurocrat...

also... to make sure everything go smooth make sure all your documents (NBI, BIRTH CERTIFICATE MARRIAGE CONTRACT,, CENOMAR) are less than six months old as to avoid or less a chance u get into AR if the consul wants a doc check......

i just wanted to offer a disenting opinion..... and i'm surprised that you are arriving in phils 2 days before your interview that is tight.. i arrived 4 days before my wife's interview and that was very hard. to prepare.... man I pray you two have no problems with your paperwork cause you have given yourself almost no time to prepare.. Good luck...... if you haven't bought your tickest to go there maybe u should consider giving yourself some moretime to prepare and fix any lacking or error paperworks that could occur...... you know like a buffer like i did.....

i wish you luck on your trip may your girl come back with you and remember ITS BETTER TO BE OVERPREPARED THAN UNDERPREPARED lol hhahahaha

I'm guessing you are talking about my trip. I'm not sure. But if so Sheryl has everything as far as our documents go. I sent her a fed-ex about a week and a half ago with everything from my end. All of her docs will be less than 3 months old by the time of our interview. So I'm really not concerned. And I'd rather take a chance in hopes we might be able to fly back together on the same flight. Worst case scenario if we get AR I pay a $100 change ticket fee which is more than worth the gamble for me if it means we fly back together otherwise. If I wasn't going back to be at her interview I would definately wait until she had visa in hand before getting her ticket here.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Hi guys! Do you know any hotel which is near the St Luke's Medical Center? I checked Pan Pacific but its booked. Im gonna be having my medical next month with my 3 yrs old son and I would just want to spend the night in a hotel rather than going back and forth from Angeles City. Hi everyone, congratulations to all who have their appointment! I'm wondering, if I'm not on the May interview list yet, is it correct to assume it won't be in June? In other words, will any more May interviews be scheduled or is that it? Thanks.

Hi,

If you're looking for an economy hotel 16.00 to 20.00... that is simple, clean, safe, and friendly and really close to Embassy and fairly close to St. Lukes....

Then go here:

HOTEL JULIANO

Guerero St. Ermita Manila

telephone number +632 536 8180

Lorna liked the place and walked to St. Lukes her first day. She said it was pretty far though so she took a taxi the second day.

Also she stayed in the 16.00 room the first night but it was smanll, no hot water and no tv.... but had AC.

So the next night she got the 20.00 room and liked it much better. And with hot water and TV.

If you need more information about this hotel PM me and I would be happy to tell you more. EZ to call from usa to reserve. just pay when you get there.

Lorna liked it enough to book it again for this weekend (interview on Monday)

Good luck and God bless,

Mike

I'm sorry your interview is not on the May list. I wouldn'tn give up just yet, it still might be listed. Lately the interviews seem to be roughly 4 months from the date of the NOA2, but anything can happen. Just begin gathering all the remaining documents you will need for the interview. Read in this thread other's experiences and it will help you tremendously.

Good Luck, Dean

You can go to asiatravel.com. They show all the hotels near the embassy and SL. If you wait til next month the room rental will probably be a little higher. You can go any time to get the medical as long as your interview is scheduled. Make sure you are not having your menstral cycle when you go.

Good Luck, Dean

Well, our long journey is finally finished. I just got off the phone with my asawa after having been on pins and needles all night and day today. Her interview was yesterday at 6:30 am, and we have been having bad phone connection problems. Her text messages are not reaching me here. So anyway...her interview experience was very positive. She was out by 10:45 am. She was escorted inside at 6:30 am with the other CR-1 interviewees, then was finger scanned not long after, then waited for the pre-interview. Her pre-interview was completely painless - the standard questions we've all seen here. The screener took the cards and letters I had sent to her and then she sat down to wait for her interview. She was interviewed by a female consular officer and had a great time. Again, the questions were mostly repeat from the pre-interview. She said it was very easy. We had practiced drilling down most of the questions that are posted in the guides here. The officer asked to see some photographs, so Milah Jean held up her fat album jammed with 200 pics. The officer said to give her 5 pics, so she selected a nice assortment. One of the pics was from our wedding day when two doves were released. Both actually landed on the front of her dress!!! It was a fun pic with her very surprised look and me laughing. The officer laughed also, so it made her feel very good. She did not ask if she was approved, but was told to sit down and wait to be called again. After her number came up again, she received a pink slip and was told to pay DELBROS and to wait for delivery. She received a text message from DELBROS confirming her phone number later, so I guess she has signed up for the Hot Line now so she will receive text delivery updates. I also see her case number on the DELBROS website, so I can check progress during the next week. So, if all goes well, she'll receive that coveted visa before I depart for Manila on March 24 to be reunited.

I've got to say that our gracious God has blessed us with an unbelievable and incredible gift. We had a very unique set of circumstances that we prayed very hard that would somehow work out, in spite of very dismal odds. We chose to do the CR-1 process due to the fact that we'd not need to do the AOS needed with the K-3, but it depending completely on timing. The entire time we have been wading through this complex process, she had been finishing her college education. We learned in January that her graduation was scheduled for March 30, so what were the odds that I could travel here to attend her graduation, the first in her family, and ALSO somehow have that visa in hand during a very narrow two week travel window so I could be her escort to her new home in America?? Well, it happened...interview on March 15, I arrive March 25, graduation is March 30, departure day for her new home is April 5, also her birthday!! Yes, we don't have the visa yet, so it's not completely guaranteed, but we could have NEVER imagined that everything could have been so perfectly choreographed. Praise God!!

Again, best wishes to all who are nearing the end of their long journeys, especially Mike and Lorna up next on Monday, and to all who have just begun this arduous process. It's a test of strength and love and courage and it will cause you to weep with both joy and sadness and cringe with agony. But the reward...ecstacy!! The time actually flew by, and the hardship and great distance did indeed strengthen our relationship. We are so very anxious to celebrate our new lives!!! Wow, can it really be?? Indeed, it is real and it is now! Yippee!!!

God Bless
