Manila Embassy Interview

Everyone (yes, we were all sworn in by the vice consul) should know birthdates, marriage date, etc. without any hesitation. My stepson had to answer what his name was for the vice consul (he is four years old).

The Filipina interviewer and the vice consul did attempt to question my wife about my stepson and the events surrounding his birth, but they did not fluster my wife and they did not try many questions about him with me present. Because of the focus of those questions, I believe that my wife would have faced a vastly different interview without my attendance at the interview and her application would likely would have been placed in AR.

The Filipina interviewer told my wife that my income was high enough that we should have six more children! She asked me for my certified copy of my divorce decree, photos of the wedding, copies of e-mails, and snail mail letters and cards.

The vice consul asked me where I work, had I flown in just for the interview, how long I was staying after the interview, and remarked that my wife and I had been waiting a long time for the immigration visas.

That was the extent of it. We spent no more than ten minutes being interviewed either time. The Filipina was a bit less friendly than the vice consul, but everything was handled professionally and competently.

By the way, CR-1/IR-1 interviews are all set for 8:00 AM and are the last cases to get their appointment numbers. There is no point in being early to the embassy because all the fiancee visa cases will be called first. You can arrive between 6 and 7 AM without any issues about waiting too long to be interviewed. Enter the embassy at the gate directly across the street from the Bayview Park Hotel.

I sent my wife a wallet-size card with all my data printed on it- address, DOB, POB, employer, wage, date started, my parent's names, their birthplaces, data about my brother & sister, year I graduated from college, etc. She carried it with her for the past month, memorizing it, especially the telephone numbers (home, cellphone, work).

We've been married for almost 10 years, and you wont realize you need to know some more things about your spouse (that the consul might ask, & you have just taken for granted).

ok quick question we sent in the original paperwork to vermont my birth certificate ,and our passport pics which we never got back??? my question is should i send additional passport pics and another copy of my birth certificate to yove in manila ?

I called embassy and was told that My fiance was finished getting checked out by whatever embassy ncic thinger mabober.....anyhow the nice lady told me that they are just waiting for the Philippine gov. to verify she is not married and then if she isn't (lol) that the visa will be in the mail. So I'm irritated for whatever status i am in, but gratful that they acctually did something so far.

im sure they requested for her cenomar from the nso to see if she had any prior marriages. shouldn't be too long of a wait. i had my wife get one two days before our interview but during her interview, they didn't accept it and they already had one sitting on the consular's desk. give us the good news soon, take care and aloha!

Hello everyone,

My fiance went to BPI to pay for the application fee $100. The teller told him to go to internet Cafe and download the form...when he went to the cafe...they said the fee is 1,500 pesos to download DS form and the internet cafe is the one going to forward it to the Embassy......Is this sound OK? Is that how its done?

Sounds like a scam to me. Maybe BPI person and cafe is in cahoots :-) Anyway, no cafe is going to have the authority to forward documents to the embassy. Maybe you should identify this cafe.

Hey, I need help. I'll be doing the CFO thing soon and I was wondering what was the easiest way to get to SMEF-COW place....I'm not very familiar with the Aurora Blvd area. I was looking at the Location Map they have online butttttttttttttttt....hmmm...lolol....obviously cant imagine any of the landmarks.

I'll be commin from Makati, Edsa...If I were commuting should I take the MRT? Bus? where do I get off? Would it be advisable if I just brought a car? Does anyone know if there is a safe parking space inside the compound?

Hi! I'll be attending the CFO soon too and I was wondering, how many handwritten letters do you have from your fiance and visa versa? Our agency told us that we should have at least 60 letters... 30 from me and 30 from my fiance? how true is that? This is the only thing that's causing the delay since writing that much letters takes a lot of time. (we email n call, n chat so we dont really write letters but are forced, hehe)

i attended CFO. there are no requirements of having emails, letters, etc.. you will just bring your authenticated marriage certificate and authenticated birth certificate, passport size picture, you passport or any valid ID) and of course your payment of 250 pesos.

The first part will be tv program viewing . Its about females abused by foreigner partners..

then the second part is group discussion. It for two days...i rememebr....

Yes your fiance can go before the interview, but won't get the passport stamp until after he has the visa. All sessions are on first come first served basis.

It's not listed in the packet because it is a requirement of the Philippines and not a U.S. consulate requirement.

The site says that the counseling is a requirement to get a passport, but the stamp is also required to exit the country on a marriage-based visa.
