Hi. i just finished with the second day of the physical exam. (Thanks Mik, dims1, for the tip). Really, the most torture-like part was the waiting.. I felt like my brain would leak after the third hour of doing nothing!

The physical went well, except for the blood-drawing part where the girl who took my blood left my arm bruised and battered.. We wondered if she really is licensed to practice! Gosh..

I'm happy to say that despite all the physical-exam-horror stories, it really isn't so bad. Just make sure you bring something to entertain yourself with. Preferably something that isn't so engrossing (some people don't hear their names being called cuz they're either deafened by their ipods, or merrily chatting away with fellow apps).

Now there's just the interview! (Sana parang interview ni Christina ang maranasan ko.)

We have Visa!! Mari picked it up on Tuesday and so after a quick visit to to get the CFO stamp, she's good to go!!

It still seems unreal but she's hangin' in Manila for the next few days and leaving Friday night for San Francisco.

What a challenging experience it has been. But after some bad breaks in the first few months, things have gone very smoothly for us. Just eight little months and finally done!! Actually for us it's almost two and a half years of impatiently waiting! I needed over a year and a half to get a final divorce after being legally separated in 2004.

Soooo thanks for all the notes and our congratulations to the huge group of newly approved couples!!

To our California friends, Fel and Frank, Steven and Jinky, and Joone and Lyann, we hope to find times soon to meet with you in person before long and have another celebration dinner. Mari and my son Daniel are both dying to go to Disneyland this Summer so we will be in So Cal for sure!

And for so many other of the terrific people Mari has hooked up with, we still have our broadband and our webcam so I hope we can also stay close and continue to help each other and let friendships bloom.

Take care y'all and we'll also continue here in VJ. The immigration process is one looooong journey!

Eric and Mari

Hey...

Don't leave us out... We're in Southern Cali as well... Torrance City to be exact... We'd love to crash the party!!!

Cheers!!!

Ahmari & Jhen...

I hope Eldalin and I will be joining you all @ Disneyland. I live in San Diego, so that is not far also.

Aloha! congrats CJ-bangus delight for having the visa on hand! When is she flying?

Hi PW please update me. I received my visa from DELBROS last Thursday Feb. 22 at 5:00pm Taguig Metro Manila. I had my stamp at CFO today and they gave me hand book and guides to read. I saw the picture of the gorgeous Pinay here including you during the get together. I was near to that area that evening of Feb15 sayang hindi ko kayo nameet ng personal at hindi nakasama ang isa pang maganda hehehe:P :D naunahan kasi ng hiya tsaka hindi ako nagconfirm na sasama  . I read your beauty tips .. I'll keep that on my mind hehe.. My fiance will be here this March 19 to spend a week to help me get ready and to cheer up my family that I will be away. Rob and I will fly back to U.S. together on March 26. Good luck on your interview on April I'll pray for you.

Hi Jen,

Originally I bought a one way ticket on PAL on Saturday, March 3 but looks like we need to move it a week later. We are getting our entire entourage wedding outfit here in the PI since it cost much less than the States. Our seamstress will not be able to meet the original deadline.

Thanks for the congrats!

Aloha! congrats CJ-bangus delight for having the visa on hand! When is she flying?

hang in there jazzy. the patience thing... easier said than done. i feel you on that

Hi all,

A little update on our visas.....I called the embassy and spoke with Sandy...i never seem to get loraine when i call anymore. She told me the pictures and passports finally made it out of the mail room and to a case workers desk feb 21 ( which ironicly is exactly 2 years ago Jasmin and I met). I asked when would be a good date to call back to check for update and she told me 2 weeks!!!!! I know I wont wait 2 weeks to call....i'll be calling by wed next week!! For gods sake all they need to do is look at the pics and process the visas already!!! I know...patience.

Congrats to all those who have thier visas and those on the way.....i don't wish this AR on anyone.

Jazzy

that's interesting. my wife had her passport name changed months ago and she barely attended the PRISM. CFO would be after the interview and that's when they'll allow her to change her name? did she bring a copy of the marriage certificate?

Ouch, Fely now says they won't give her a new passport or change her name until she attends the CFO. So there's another wasted trip, 4 out of 4. I need to see what docs I need to send to her first. She's pretty much on her own here, doesn't really use the internet to find out about how to do things. This is suddenly so frustrating.

I'm not sure about the marriage cert. This is one of those cases where its hard to get a straight answer, plus she's very tired from the trip and hasn't answered my last two text messages. She knows the marriage certificate is required for a name change. The DFA website says that the CFO is required to get a passport for spouse or fiancée visas, but it does not say its required for a passport amendment. This is another example of govt. officials changing the rules as they see fit at any time. So Fely will have to go to Manila to attend the CFO, but the problem is I'm expecting the IV fee bill anytime and I don't have the money right now to send to Fely to go to Manila (she already used up the money I sent to her for her 4 unsuccessful trips to NSO and DFA). And so we'll probably have a delay while she obtains all the papers we need to send to NVC. Ugh!
