Ah Southern food...

Sweet Tea and fried chicken are now the bane of my existance :P *shakes fist at their horrible deliciousness*

I need a major detox soon though..I have IBS, so I have to make sure I keep up my water and fibers to keep my tummy and other 'stuffs' in good working order...which is not the case at the moment. Does anyone have a good cleanse recipe?

The grocery order next week after the wedding will be huge and a lot of things Bo will whine about, but he loves me and I'll make him eat it. I'd like to lose about 15 lbs too before our honeymoon (early summer) and the 2nd larger wedding at home. There is a gym here at our apt complex, which is a 2 min walk away, and we border on a lake with walking trails :) And a WiiFit is one of our wedding gifts coming next week LOL.

Happy Wife (and her tummy) = happy life for hubby :)

I'm an IBS'er too... had a major attack yesterday.. feel better today but it was probably the worst one I have ever had.. I'm blaming Taco Bell for this one..

Jenni, I have IBS w/consitpation, I use Watkins Inner Cleanse tablets. So far they work the best for me, with no cramping or gas or bloating, unlike some other fibre tablets or supplements.

I am hoping to gain some weight (muscle) once I relocate to the US - (my fiance and I are both competitive athletes) the Canadian winters just rip the fat right off of me! I always have a hard time maintaining my weight through our frigid months. The climate in South Florida is much more suited to our training/lifestyle.

For those interested in a cleanse I recommend a juicer, like the Jack LaLanne one. I have the Juicer Pro and it is awesome. Juice lots of fruits, especially citrus fruits. Yum. And if you have IBS I would seriously consider passing on Taco Bell. That is like throwing gasoline on the fire.

I have learned this year, that I have to work out harder in the winter, because I stay pretty fit in the summer riding my horse...so I have really increased the weights and running on the treadmill (boring but effective) so I am feeling much better. I never weigh myself so have no clue about how much I have lost, but my clothes are fitting better...still need to keep focused. The hardest for me is eating less....but it is getting easier (well a little easier)..

If you're retaining water, DRINK MORE WATER! Beans won't help.

I drink about 100 ounces a day and am still retaining water. I am now trying to eliminate as much salt from my diet as possible. My doc even told me to give up salt substitute

If you're truely drinking 100 oz per day and you're still retaining water, I'd suggest there could be underlying medical issues there, not just salt intake. Perhaps you should have your kidney function tested. You sholdn't be retaining water if you're drinking that much every day.

resurrecting this thread.. I've been working out since Feb on average 5 times a week.. not seeing results like I thought I would.. not as jiggly as I once was, but not really seeing a massive change in my body..

Is cardio 20-30 min 3x's a week and strength training 40 min 2x's a week not enough to really change your body?

I guess it depends what you are eating.... the rule of thumb is that you must burn more calories than you intake.... So if you are actually trying to lose weight, not just maintain you would probably have to do more cardio than that. Uggg I read Kate Gosselin does 1 hr 15 mins of cardio per day to burn 850 calories that's why she's so damn skinny (elliptical & treadmill)

hey em...i actually went to see my doctor for my physical a few months ago and talked to her about this very issue. She says that we should be doing cardio 5 times a week for at 45 minutes...so i've been doing that plus pilates 3 times a week and have been seeing some results. i've also had to drastically change my eating habits.

UGh.. really?? that would put me in serious time crunch.. i try to work out before I leave in the am. so I don't have to spend time working out when hubby's home after work.. Man.. that would mean getting out of bed before 7am booo...
