A new comer (visa cancelled by mistake)

Hey, I just found out this great website today, thought I'd join you guys. Here is my story.

I recently married to a US citizen, and I am in the process of applying for permanent residency. I am on student status(F1). My case is special in that my visa was cancelled by mistake last summer when I tried to enter the US after a two days trip to Canada. The officer mistakenly asked for EAD as a proof of my eligibility to work full time(I told him that I was doing a paid full time internship), when I have my CPT as my authorization to work. They denied my entry to the States , withdrew my i-20 and i-94, and asked me to go back to Canada. However, after I left the office I talked to my manager at the company I was working for, he told me to go back and try to explain again, and I did go back and talk to a different officer. He instantly realized the other office made a mistake. They returned my i-20 and i-94, and made notes on a different page(not on the page that my visa is on) of my passport saying the cancellation was executed in error . My question is, my visa now has a big cross mark and said it was cancelled. I consulted with a few lawyers, they all said this might be an issue to my application. I contacted the officer who helped me that night, and he said he is willing to verify the story if the USCIS asked him. I hired a lawyer to handle my case now, what we did is to put a letter written by me about how the visa got canceled in error and this can be verfied by the officer and a copy of the card of that officer. I am wondering what you guys would do for a case like mine.
