NOA 1 takes about 2-4 weeks and NOA2 takes about 4-6 months...

so you are saying that they will send something for him within 2-4 weeks ?? he will be here for 2 months, will this be a problem then?

when you first file, they will send you a letter (NOA 1) this letter is to let you know that they have received your petition and they have received the payment. then 4-6 months later when USCIS approves your petition they will send you out another letter (NOA2) this letter is to inform you that they have made a decision on your petition and they will forward your petition to the NVC for oversea processing.

sorry if im asking so many questions, and thank you for your answers. just want to make it clear when he actually has to be back home to either respond or acknowlege for the process. Is staying here with me safe then for 2 months, then going back?

after you send in your petition to USCIS, there will no interaction for 4-6 months, you can track the progress online, if USCIS request anymore evidence during the process they will send out a letter to him called RFE, then you'll have to respond.. just make sure your petition is complete and everything filled out correctly, you'll have nothing to worry about for the 2 months he is there...
