Volcanic eruption/flight status

The eruption of the Redoubt Volcano may have an effect on the flights which have routes near Alaska. I think the NWA flight from Japan to Minneapolis and Detroit travels near this area. In the past, the ash from eruptions has caused some problems with aircraft including engine problems. Some links with info:

My wife and children are flying from Philippines to Detroit on Sunday so I'm praying that the volcano doesn't erupt over the weekend.

Yikes... first it's the snow scarying me into worrying my flight to the phils may be cancelled... now it's volcano's... it's a conspiracy as I've got tickets that go through detroit on NWA... but those are my return tickets... whew... I don't mind if I have to stay in the phils a while longer, but PLEEEEEEEEASE mother nature, don't screw up the getting there part!

All the airlines typically fly that route. If there is turbulence or other issues such as ash then they fly a different route straight across the pacific to the OR/WS state area in US. Best of luck.
