How specific for dates of residence/employment?

Every other form we've filled out so far (the bibliographic information for the AOS comes to mind) has asked for the dates corresponding to recent residences and employment in the form of MM/YYYY (just month and year). The instructions for the N-400 say the same thing. However, on the latest N-400 form itself, it asks for these dates as DD/MM/YYYY. We have some of the exact dates, but going back 4.5 years, for some things we've only got a month and a year.

If I put some as DD/MM/YYYY and a few as MM/YYYY will that be OK? Or will they demand more specific information? Is it bad to put a mix, should I put everything as MM/YYYY to be consistent?

Thanks!

Whenever I'm asked for such information and don't know the exact day - I always simply enter the first day of the month (e.g., know the month is April 2008, I'll enter 04/01/2008). Simply because it's likely someone, somewhere is entering this information into a computer.

Note: They're asking for the date formate of (mm/dd/yyyy) as opposed to (dd/mm/yyyy).

Oops, that's what I meant to say. I think it's too late to edit my post now. Hopefully this won't confuse anybody.
