avondale is like almost an hour drive.

So we seldom go to the east valley--it's just too far. But most Filipino stores/restaurants are down there so we don't mind driving to get some halo-halo @ Barrio Fiesta in Chandler or Red Ribbon treats in Tempe. There's a lot of Pinoy's here in the west valley near the Luke AFB where my husband is also stationed.

Barrio Fiesta @ Elliot and Alma School Rd. It is beside IHop. There's a pinoy bakery inside too and they just recently opened up the business when we last went there about 2 weeks ago.

I have no idea what the temp or humidity was on Cebu when I landed on 1/20. However, I looked out the airplane window to see a porter hustling out a shopping cart with umbrellas. Since the sun was beaming, I asked WHAT the umbrellas were about. My fiance' said, "It's hot here, honey.".

I've spent 13 summers in Phoenix, and I grew up near Miami, Florida. I'm feeling Cebu was hotter.

I don't think she, nor any other pinay will have ANY trouble with our DRY HEAT here, LOL. :)

Cebu is hotter coz its humid in the philippines. AZ is dry.

Filipinos often use umbrella, either rainy or sunny...

Most of my filipino friends who stayed here in AZ during summer had been warning me to prepare for it.

I will soon find out. But would enjoy the weather for now.

Yes, Barrio Fiest is right behind the I-HOP restaurant. It's sort of hidden from view as you go east on Elliot, just past Alma School. So, turn into the parking lot at I-Hop, then you'll see it right behind there.

I ate at a Barrio Fiesta inside the Ayala Mall in Cebu. It was NOT GOOD. Thankfully, this one right here in Chandler is VERY good. I've had their kare-kare, garlic rice, and fried squid. All yummy.

I searched I-Hop in Elliot Road in my GPS. Got the address. :star: Thanks!

I think Barrio Fiesta in Cebu adjusted their taste based on the locals taste buds. I would expect it to be a little bit salty compared to other barrio fiesta in other area like manila and chandler.

Would also tell this place to my other filipina friends here in phoenix.
