Cessna Aircraft warned employees Tuesday to brace for job cuts, the second time in two months that Wichita's largest employer has announced layoffs.

...

Sources with knowledge of the situation said they expect the number in this round of cuts to reach 1,000 or more.

Would be far more interesting to post layoffs in the federal, state, city, county, township, city, or town sectors, way too many parasites in these sectors. Can start off by laying off our doubled since 9/11 police force, just driving around burning gas like crazy trying to find somebody to ticket. But if you call them in need, they run the other way. Hard to find the number of employees in our school district, to the best of my knowledge, one employee per every seven students, but would like to have two employees per student. Some classes only have three students, what a waste, and if you want your kids on the honor roll, better be prepared to spend at least two hours a day with them, more on weekends to get those kind of grades.

You've called the police and have actually witnessed them run the other way?

I'm no fan of the cops, but even I call bullsh1t on that one.

Where I live that info is online. It should be public domain info just about everywhere, except maybe the Sudan.

As a private pilot, this bums me out a lot. Aviation has never fully recovered from 2001, and now it's taking an even worse beating, with Cessna being only the latest of the bad news to hit this sector.

It's also a shame because Cessna make damn good airplanes. Not that I'd ever buy one of course. They're made in frickin' Kansas. (ba-duma!)

Entire general aviation industry was already hit hard by stupid product liability laws, worse when Cessna was hit with a 7 million dollar lawsuit, because some idiot tried to adjust his seat while taking off, slide back, he and three passengers were killed. Reason, Cessna did not put a label on the already overcrowded dash, DO NOT AJUST SEAT WHILE IN FLIGHT!!!!

Think the same Skyhawk is made today for over a 1/4 million, sold new in 1965 for five grand, about the same price as a fully equipped Buick, same exact airplane, also cost way too much to make changes and get it recertified. Did pass a law, where manufacturers are only held liable for planes made in the last 17 years that helps a little.

We just had a major investigation at our local airport, logs, equipment, everything looking for fault, FAA, DOT, attorneys, insurance companies, couldn't find anything wrong, but they sure looked. Some guy wanted to land here, stalled on landing, but missed the airport completely crashing into a pond four long city blocks away.

If some idiot that doesn't know how to drive, swings in your lane and hits you head on without insurance, you don't get a red cent. Our FOB has hit with a 98K buck defense bill for an annual he did on a plane that already expired, but his name was in the log book. An idiot took off with a cracked manifold, was warned not to at a different airport, but any product or anyone doing repair work, no matter how long ago, is held liable, it's crazy, He lost his engine in flight and killed himself and two boys, what an idiot. This was two years ago, three years ago, a commercial pilot flew in but forgot to lower his landing gear, no one was hurt or killed, but brought the entire flock out again looking for someone to blame.
