Certificado Judicial (Police Certificate) and Carta Migratoria (Migratory Letter)

I know that I'm supposed to get the Migratory Letter and Police Certificate from the DAS office, but does it have to be the one in Bogota. I'm going to be living in Barranquilla until the process in complete and I know there's a DAS office in Barranquilla where my grandma got her Police certificate about 3 yrs ago, can I get the Migratory Letter and Police Certificate at the office they have in Barranquilla? Also, how long are these two documents valid for? I'm trying to get all the documents I need so that i could have everything ready for when my i-130 gets approved.

You can get your certificado judicial from your local DAS office but I believe the Carta Migratoria can no longer be picked up outside of Bogotá. You can order it in Barranquilla and then pick it up in Bogotá the same week of your appointment at the embassy, that's what most people do. As far as how long they are valid for? I can't remember, it's either 6 months to a year.

But looking at your timeline you still have a long way to go, I would wait until your petition is approved at the USCIS and sent to the NVC. Once it's there, you have all the time in the world to get both documents from the DAS.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I know I just started the process and I have long way to go, but I really want to have all the documents ready so that I could just mail them as soon as they ask for them. I want to try to make the process as short as possible, even though I know is going to be long anyways.
