Thankums for the encouragement guys...I feel really queasy and jittery, and it's not even Monday yet! I did go through Grosvenor Square today, so I know where I'll be going. By the way, my friends and I actually cut through the protest and it was pretty unimpressive, just so you know :P.

Any words of advice...? Also, I think someone (maybe Nich?) mentioned a pharmacy in Grosvenor where I can leave my phone/bag, or something, for £5. If so, where is it, and if not, is there somewhere I can do that? Or can I do that at the embassy itself?

Thank you!

Magpie.

ms. magpie,

according to some comments (scroll down, its towards the bottom) by embassy graduates, gould's opens at 7 or 7:30 in the am. i feel like ive read that a bunch of times in embassy reviews and other threads. can anyone confirm?

sincerely,

thread-searcher lisabette.

edit: <more searching> i see more recent references to it being open early in the embassy reviews.

Thank you so much, Lisabette. If that's the case, looks like my plan is set -- I've bought my train ticket in advance and everything (cost me a gross £20ish but I can't really complain as I'm about 40 minutes away). The website maybe has old information or perhaps is referring to other pharmacies of the same chain instead, and if other embassy-goers had earlier appointments than me, I think it's safe to say that it's okay! Uuwah. I'm going to try and get some sleep.

Hugs!

Magpie.

Sweet dreams Magpie - you are almost there!! Wishing you much luck ...

I can't sleep tonight - I have been checking out flight prices and hotels for London ... I think Mum and I will stay at the Lincoln House - looks really nice and central for both the Embassy and the Doctor's ... The flights are cheap and cheerful going from Prestwick into Stanstead, with an Express bus into the city ... it will be a dawdle ...

All I need now is my interview date and I can make all the arrangements ....

***SIGHS**** I wish I was a patient person ... all this would be soooo much easier ....

anything for you, ms. mags. (really.)

and sdp, i think its a good exercise in patience. its interesting to see what i resort to when i cant control anything in this process. the one thing i can control is being as prepared as possible, so i research. a lot. TOO MUCH. but it keeps me busy, i feel like i am making forward progress, and best of all... we are educating ourselves about what is to come. that way, we dont spend so much time in the 'execution stage', we just do it, because we already know exactly what to do.

your interview will pop-up sooner than you expect. plus, if it doesnt, you know to chase it up with the embassy!

The Stansted Express is pretty good; I think it's about £25 return if you book on their website, and it goes straight from Stansted airport to Liverpool Street Station, where you can hop right on the Tube. Takes 45 minutes.

All I need now is my interview date and I can make all the arrangements ....

If it makes you feel any better, I was freaking last week about not having an interview date, and my fiancée called the DoS on Friday and was told we have an interview. She had emailed the embassy the day before, politely asking what was going on, so I don't know if our getting an interview right after that was a coincidence or not.

Exactly!! I have learned so much from the kind people on here. If I don't hear anything within the next two weeks then I'll be calling the USA to find out what's going on! I have heard of people being given their interview dates from DOS before they get their packet four from London, so it's certainly worth a try!

Oh, I know what you mean about research ... sometimes my brain is so full of visa information that I find it hard to focus lol. I've learned to take deep breaths (thanks Bob and Patricia!) and just keep myself busy ...

I'll be thinking of you on Monday ... take care!

Thanks for all of the congratulations.. I need to put my write-up here, but I'm still so amazed and tired and actually-eating-and-sleeping again that everything I write comes out bad

Good luck, Magpie :) I know it's horrible before the interview but everybody here is right.. it's such an anticlimax. but I guess you have to experience it yourself before you'll actually admit to it/realize that, I know I was that way.. Haha

So April is S & M month at the US Embassy?

They really should tell you that sort of thing when confirming your interview.

Anyone know where I can get some smart/casual leatherwear?
