Cynthia had her interview yesterday and we have two items they requested, marriage index and CENOMAR. I guess the copies she had were to outdated. What is a marriage index?

Since USEM has stopped doing the document verification they seem to be "hitting up" married peeps for recent CENOMAR and marriage index a LOT more.

In the past spouses were seldom asked for such. May have something to do with the large amount of fake NSO documents in the Philippines.

So true...

CENOMAR is CErtificate of NO MARriage which we all get prior to applying for a marriage license. CENMAR is CERtificate of MARriage which is basically like the CENOMAR, only with an annotation that says that there is at least one marriage listed with your name and your spouse's name in it. But the forms used for applying for both is the same.

It is a habit of mine to have at least duplicate copies of everything (I have 5 copies of my BC and my marraige certificate) so that I gave NVC my CENOMAR, which they accepted and showed the consular officer my CENMAR which he only took a brief look at then returned to me.

OH...as a rule of thumb, NSO documents expire after 6 months. I guess they can trace that via the barcodes at the bottom of the documents.
