I wonder what the sentiment is around here about this topic; when we present my wife's green card to any government agency, they don't take it at face value, "it needs to be verified"; for instance last week we went to get her driver's license; a saw the lady get on the phone getting verification information, I was afraid that being Saturday we'd run into a snag; this afternoon we went to the Social Security Administration to get the statement "valid for work only with DHS authorization" removed from her SSN; they said it would "take 12 weeks to get her documentation verified" ...I thought this is absurd...I am presenting a document that has a very sophisticated production process, with holograms and who-knows-what, I'm sure this is a lot more difficult to counterfeit than a dollar bill, ...why is then that the dollar bills I use at the grocery store are not subject to this level of verification? what is the use of a highly-developed technology it is to be ignored?... I'm venting here because I know that in practice I'd better be philosophical and just go with it...it just doesn't make an iota of sense that's all

It can take up to 2 weeks for USCIS to update SAVE database used for immigrations status verification used by SSA and other agencies to verify status.
