I sent out my I-751 package on 12/6/08. The USPS delivery confirmation showed that it was delivered on 12/8/08.

I got my Bio Appoitment letter today, dated 12/15/08. But I haven't got the letter regarding the 1-year extension of my status.

I'm so confused. Who else is in the same situation? What to do next?

Thanks

Bio letter gets printed ans sent out by your local ASC, the extension letter comes from the service center. So tend to arrive at different times.

N8+Ying,

I applied for removal of conditions in June 2008. I received my bio appointment about a month later, but, same as you, no extension letter. Because my green card was expiring and I had to travel internationally, I went to my local office and got a stamp in the passport, which extends my status for 1 year. The lady who stamped my passport told me I am not the only one in this situation, maybe the extension letter got lost in the mail, etc In one word, it's no big deal, she said, the stamp is just as good.

I have traveled outside the US with the stamp in my passport and had no problem coming back into the country.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey.

Hello Dara, thanks for sharing your experience. I guess I will just wait a little longer, say, after my Bio Appointment. If there is still no extension letter, I will make an info pass, requesting the stamp on my passport.

I think we are in the same situation. The following is my timeline:

12/04/2008 Day 0: Shipped I751 to California Service Center

12/05/2008 Day 1: Delivered, December 05, 2008, 10:59 am, LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA 92607 signed

12/09/2008 Day 5: Check Cashed - WAC #1

12/19/2008 Day 15: Biometrics Appointment Notice Received Schedule 01/02/2009 2pm dated 12/15/2008 - WAC #2

12/22/2008 Day 18: Biometrics Appointment taken even though schedule for 01/02/2009

01/02/2009 Day 29: Biometrics Appointment taken on 12/22/2008 even though schedule today

LUD: 12/23/2008

I have not received my NOA1 yet. I made an infopass appointment, but the IO wanted me to release my conditional greencard to obtain a temporary 551 stamp. I declined the offer and kept my conditional greencard, which expires 2/28/09.

Hello Dappant,

I went to my INFO pass on 1/2/09 and got a I-551 stamp on my passport with no problem. The officer did ask me why I need the stamp now since my conditional greencard is still valid until 3/2/09. I told her that I need to renew my driver lisence and travel internationally during the I-751 petition pending period. She didn't mention anything about releasing the conditional greencard.

With the I-551 stamp, my status is extended for 1 year, starting from the issued date (1/2/09), instead of the date the conditional greencard expires.

Hi N8+Ying,

The officer took my passport and conditional green card. He went to seek assistant from a supervisor, who then gave me the I-551 stamp. He returned and told me that he took the green card because it is no longer useful. He said that it's either the stamp or the conditional green card. I told him that I needed my conditional greencard to travel to the Caribbean via Puerto Rico. I claimed that the custom officials in Puerto Rico don't think highly of the stamp and needed to see the conditional green card. I had lost my conditional card in the past and spent a long period in the queue at customs trying to explain the stamp to them.

As a result, I opted to keep my conditional green card and allowed him to place a void on the I-551 stamp.
