Im Dying for Salted egg

Oh, Gosh i really want to eat Itlog na maalat... Sadly, i can't find any site who sell and deliver Salted Egg. I am in Lexington Kentucky and i just found a Philippine Store from Texas pinoygrocery.com who offers delivery but they dont have that salted egg. Do you know any site who sell and deliver salted egg? Thanks!

U r funny But i can see how this is posted under this thread, hehehe... the salted egg really helps make food taste yummier and hmm "basic", as in bringing us back home.. The filipino salted egg is like already pre-boiled and the shell is coloured pink, di ba? The ones we have in Malaysia is sold with black mud covering the shell (i think that whats make it saltier than the filipino version), and ud need to wash off the mud and then boil it.

Try your local chinese sari-sari stores/mini market/grocery. They should have it i think..

Try any other Asian supermarket like Chinese, they should be available. We have 2 Asian supermarket here in Mesa and both of them sell itlog na maalat

Actually, salted eggs are of Chinese origin. So Chinese stores should carry them.

Hi. Thank you talaga sa reply. I just called the Chinese store near my place and the Guy i talked to said they have it. Im just not sure if naintindihan nya ba ko. anyway, i will visit their store today. Thanks again sa reply!

Hi! I think the filipino way of making salted eggs is just the same way as is in Malaysia. There is a process or part where the eggs have to be covered. with soil, but not an ordinary soil but with a soil that comes from termite house coz, it's more sticky. For a couple of days' the soil will be washed off and the egg will be boiled then will be placed on a hot water with color red.. When the egg cools off' it's ready for the market .

Century eggs are different. They are already black and jello like in texture. Our salted eggs differ only in color. We are the only ones who dye the eggs reds to differentiate it from other eggs such as balut and penoy.

hehehe, i eat red egg also (salted egg) my husband dont so i dont eat when he's here hehehe... i remember making the salted egg in gradeschool. if you cant find in market maybe u can make your own. try to search on internet.

Mmm...mmm...

Am having me some nice salted eggs with tomatoes for breakfast tomorrow...the real "itik" ones with that nice dark yellow yolk that has some oiliness to it....mmm...mmm...mmm....definitely yummy!!! Then will go off to a bazaar on the weekend and get some more of it :D
