i really have no concerns about liking the place, i just adapt very well to new places.

I moved from Montreal (a big city) where i used to live completely in french to a completely rural pat of Ontario where all happens in English so i am used to "culture shock"

I was really hoping to find someone that made that exact move for all the usual questions ...drivers license what happens with the testing portion, the new places they like to eat, the typical day to day stuff that involve a state in particular.

The fact that no one made that move from visajourney makes me suspect i will answer a lot of question about my french accent and when they noticed

i don't say "Takin a showa for and hawa"

Maybe that last bit will stimulate rhoders to speak up

Our countries of origin always make for great conversation pieces with the American species. :D

Have to check out Newport Creamery!! Super milkshakes--or as they refer to them as "Awful Awful!!" There is actually a RI slag for a milkshake as well, but it slips my mind!! Where in RI are u moving to?

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Warwick is the home of the Ghost Hunters(show on sci-fi) TAPS and also has the best chinese food ever!! I have traveled to Warwick on a few occasions just to go to the House of Wu...they have the biggest scorpion bowls I've ever seen haha

and RI also has what are called hot weiners lol...don't ask me what they are exactly..I just know you can't find them in Mass and they are good. The square pizza with no cheese was what I craved when I was pregnant with my twins...

My brother used to live in West Kingston and I now have a friend that lives up north (can't remember the town, but near the MA border). I would go there for vacations in the summer to visit my brother in the 80 and 90's. I always loved R.I...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

tee hee.. the only thing I HATE about RI is that you have to pay $10-$15 to park anywhere along the beaches.. grrrrr drives me nuts.. i'm used to being able to go to a "local" beach and not having to pay for it, but in RI (and CT too) it would appear that "private (as in public but no amenities)" beaches don't exist.. just "no trespassing signs"..

Hahaha oops, Vancouver did the same thing!

Except "1st beach" is called English Bay Beach mostly.

Strange, very strange....the laziness.

SpiritAlight edits due to extreme lack of typing abilities. :)

You will do foolish things.

Do them with enthusiasm!!

Don't just do something. Sit there.
