mdyoung,

Roughly a year ago my K3 wife went directly from the USCIS Sub Office where she was given an interim EAD to the SS office a mile or so away. Took us maybe 45 minutes from saying 'goodbye' to the USCIS person to saying 'hello' to the SSA person (most of the time spent waiting in line at the SSA office). They took her SS application and the card arrived in the mail about 2 weeks later.

Fluke, mistake, or verification pilot?

Without knowing when the verification pilot started or exactly how it works I'm thinking fluke or mistake.

I have also discovered the new SAVE pilot program. I spoke with them on the phone and they said they would love to speak with the local SSA office to set them up and train them on the new program that would replace the G-845's. SAVE Pilot program site. Seems that the Louisville office knows nothing about it. I tried to get our SS office to call the director of the pilot program, but they said that all their policies are dictated by CONGRESS. That it would have to go through CONGRESS become a law before they can change how they process the manual verifications at this time.

I have sent a letter to the Social Security Advisory Board and to my Congresswoman, it contains the website information on the SAVE pilot program as well as the website the MDYOUNG provided on another post that tells how the manual verification is currently done. I know this will not help us, the process it too long, but hopefully once all SSA offices begin to use this electronic verification it will speed up the process for others.

That wouldn't take an act of Congress. The regulations just say that people need to be work authorized or have lawful alien status and valid non work need to be assigned an SSN and/or issued a card. So how that's checked is up to SSA.

According to the SSA, they can not change how they do the manual verification process until they get new procedures, they said these procedures are passed down through Congress. SSA Save procedures. When I mentioned they are just procedures for doing the same thing as the G-845 only an automatic process rather than manual they said those are still procedures that have to go through Congress first. Can I say that right now I am hating SSA more than USCIS. What do they need to verify with USCIS when you have to give them everything at the SSA office except your right kidney. Alex had to give them his Passport, I-94, EAD, Birth certificate, marriage licence, state ID, etc... and they still have not given him his SS#.
