cantwait2long,

you should put your wife's before marriage name. For example, wife's before marriage name is Sonia gandhi and after marriage is Sonia singh. So in item #2 you would put Sonia gandhi as her maiden name. Hopefully this will help you.

Best of luck!

But I am still confused.

On all records her name is without the maiden name.

And her maiden name is Randhawa but not on any record and she never used it.

Do I have to fill in her name as FIRSTNAME ....MIDDLE NAME.... RANDHAWA.

I could put Sonia Gandhi but then she will have to share her wealth with me.

Is someone there on VJ who has been in this situation.

Please help.

include her full name in this case.

so for example, if her name is Sonia Kumari Randhawa, enter the full name (Sonia Kumari Randhawa)

but again, it wouldnt hurt calling NVC and confirming before hand. i wud call a few times to make sure you get a consistent answer. this way you hear the info directly from NVC. its better sometimes to hear the official answer from their office rather than people here as your situation is truly unique.

we didnt get the NOA2 yet, but already prepared papers for future steps. i didnt change my name after marriage, so we didnt fill my name once again there (it asks other name, aliases, or if married woman, maiden name). for me being the same, we just filled N/A. u think I should write my name once again there even if is the same? I was thinking that if yr wife name didnt change, u shouldnt put anything in there either. if she took yr name, should put there her name before marriage, as it appears on her papers (BC, previous passport, any records she might have with her name before marriage)

and I have to admit i had to google to see why u laugh at those examples. sonia gandhi ive got it, but had no idea who this sonia singh is. eh, romanian lost in indian name jokes trying to get it.tell more, maybe it brings more smiles. lets say happy NVC ppl cheering up a still waiting USCIS person.

i think you should still write your wife's name again. having it appear there twice will only confirm that the name hasnt changed. it wouldnt hurt your application in anyway. better safe than sorry.

and yes, the sonia singh is just a pleasent joke given that she is always seen around (or shall i say it the other way around) the prime minister manmohan singh

I will like to take advantage of this post and ask a related question myself...

When I became a USC i changed my name from:

(this is an example)

Jane Smith Smith to Jane Smith , dropping one last name because yes my parents shared the same last name, and it was just too long on my driver's licence.

When I get married I will take my husband's last name, and will be Jane Dow... Does that mean then in the question mentioned above I will have to put:

Jane Smith, Jane Smith Smith ?

by the way! cantwait2long i think the form i-130 also has that question, what did you answer in the i-130? (question 7) , maybe you should put the same thing you have on the i-130

Thanks Terca for the clue.

I wrote N/A and I am going to do the same.

But I will have thwo other forms with her maiden name and without maiden name in case they reject one or the other...to be on safe side.

Thanks guys for your insight and help.
