My filipino friend is in Spain getting her Master's degree (1 year left in program), and she has an appointment with the US Embassy in Spain to get a Visitor visa to see me and her family here in the US over the holidays. Her family has not yet offered her a legitimate "invitation letter" or anything, so unless she gets their support quickly, she is hoping that she will get approved based on:

[a] her bank statement showing $6000 USD in her bank account (hence no need for family financial support), and

her contract with University until 2010 showing she will return to Spain after holidays.

She has written a Statement of Purpose, and she would kindly appreciate any attorneys taking 60 seconds to review it, to assure she gets approved.

Any legal advisors able to share 60 seconds?? PLEASE!

There are no Legal Advisers here on VJ, only people going through family immigration.

There is no such thing as free legal advice here, or anywhere  But, if she can get a letter or document on official stationery from her university which establishes the fact that she is registered for classes when she returns, she MAY succeed. The problem is that as a rule, Filipinas have a hard time getting visitors' visa to the U.S. because so many have ended up staying here illegally, even when they have good jobs to return to. She should just apply and see what happens.

Even though you've posted this question in the Adjustment of Status forum - I would have to presume she has no intention of adjusting status (if/once she arrives in the US) and is simply wanting a tourist visa. Would that be a safe bet?

Am not sure what an attorney would have to offer in the way of advice in crafting a letter for the purposes of visiting the US. If there are circumstances not posted here (for privacy or other reasons), am not sure cutting corners by soliciting free legal advice is worth it in the long run; if it's needed, find a competent family/visa attorney and get the advice you seek.
