Can I, the foreign fiance in Canada, get ahead of the NOA2 & Packet 3?

Good morning everyone,

I am wondering if anyone knows or has thought of doing (and subsequently done) their police report and medical exam well ahead of their NOA2 and Packet 3. As I understand, the police report is valid in Canada for one year, however, does that matter for immigration purposes? I think I read somewhere that the packet 3 can be downloaded. If that's true, couldn't I also do the medical exams ahead of time as well?

Thanks!

Not without an NVC case number - the civil surgeon needs this to reference your case with the embassy/consulate where he/she would send your resulte.

Thanks!

Hi Karen and Otto,

So, theoretically, once I receive a case number from the NVC, then can I print out the packet 3 and do the medicals and police report instead of waiting for it in the mail? Is here a way to find out the case number from NVC before they mail me the papers? ( I knew this would get confusing)

I think you can ring NVC, when you check to see if they have sent the case to the embassy, to get the case number.

Once you're petition (I-129f) is approved (NOA2) and your case is received at NVC - the USC can call to get the number, yes.( I knew this would get confusing)
