And now? Did he get a new appointment, or can he send it by mail?
When I asked, he said that he can just bring it to the embassy to drop it off. He said he would go tomorrow, but he can't take the time off of work, so he'll likely go on Monday, as his job is supposed to have him in that area, anyway. :)

The only doom that's looming is you loving me to death,

So I'll give you a sec to catch your breath.

Thanks everyone! :D

Also, you must have been the person my fiance was talking about. He said to me, "I ran into someone from VJ while at my interview today. :D"

Yes, I was waiting in line behind him at the counter :)

As for us, my wonderful, sweet, amazing, funny, dorky fiance...

..Forgot to bring his birth certificate. No approval today. sad.gif

I'm sure it's just a formality of bringing in the certificate. The guys at the consulate where very nice and helpful, I'm sure it will be alright :)

Hey all,

Today I went to the townhall, not for myself but while i was there i thought I will ask about my passport, my new family name and my maiden name and than busy with visa stuff etc.

So they told me that June 11 they will start with making new sort of passports in my townhall.

They will add fingerprints in it etc.

Passports will be okay for 5 years but well for us it will always be 41/2 years because when you fly you need to think about that your passport is still okay when you are back in NL for 6 months.

But well I thought maybe some of you or your partner will fly to the USA etc. If your passport is not okay anymore we need to apply for another passport in the USA at the Consulate or Embassy of the Netherlands in the USA.

Well maybe some of you want to have that new passport before they fly in to the USA.

I am going to get this new passport, the one i have is still okay but well i want to have my husbands name, my new signature etc. in it so than they can't say anything about stuff like that and also my passport will stay 5 years.

Just thought I would tell you what i figured out today so you can think about it if you want.

Have a nice weekend!

Congratulations Sanne, that went very fast.

Do you know when you will be getting on the plane already?

Thanks!

Yes, September 19. I already booked the flight a few months ago when I found an amazing deal.. so I just took the risk. We planned our wedding for October 30.. so we will still have to wait a while unfortunately.

Not a thing. I assume it is down to the embassy waiting on my police certificate, but my concern is that during the interview and any subsequent calls to DOS and the embassy extortion line, I was asked if I was going to send in the required certificate!! Which isn't the case, the US Embassy London must request it from the Amsterdam consulate themselves...but I can't get a hold of anyone within the Embassy to put me at ease that they know what they are doing!

Paul, I'm so sorry to hear that things aren't going the way you want. This may be a silly question, but have you called the London Embassy to ask if they've requested the certificate? I can't believe things are getting so mixed up for what should be a fairly straight forward process. :/

That said, when it rains, it pours. My family applied for passports so that they could attend the engagement ceremony that TamTu's family is throwing for us in June. Yesterday, my mom called to check up on the status of her application, as my brother and father had their passports approved and she submitted hers the day before them. They told her that they intend to deny her a passport because while "Her birth certificate is definitely real and original, it's too old" for them to accept. They also said that it was a good thing she called, because they had no intention of letting her know until June 8th -- The day we're supposed to leave! So I spent many hours yesterday trying to figure out which city she was born in, the name of her hospital and all other important details to get to ordering a certificate for her.

We ordered one, but the fastest it will get here is, like, next week which is too much time. I also started contacting senators in New York yesterday, to see if they could maybe help us out with this situation. So we're considering having her fly to New York, unless we can get someone to go on behalf of her [in which case, we'd need to have a letter signed by a notary republic giving that person permission]. So.. now I'm trying to contact any of my New York friends to see if they can help us out. Fingers crossed. :/

The only doom that's looming is you loving me to death,

So I'll give you a sec to catch your breath.

Oh that's awful man! Sorry to hear that, I hope it all goes well for you guys.

I have called the Embassy, but the receptionist won't let you speak to anyone but her and she knows nothing, then there is the extortion line, which is a visa help line costing over 3 bucks a minute (!) and they said they only help people before the interview, not after and they nothing of my case. So I've emailed them and Amsterdam, hoping for something, but the London email got returned with "we have deleted your email without reading it, you do not have authorization to email us". So finally, the DOS (State department) visa line kinda confirmed they are waiting on the certificate, but couldn't tell me if they have applied for it or not. Monday I am calling Senator Inhofe to see if his Office can help us.
