Travel Website Review - MakeMyTrip

I know several people post messages here and are looking for a good online travel site that offers inexpensive fares and reasonable service.

However, I have had disappointing experience with one of them www.makemytrip.com

I booked an international ticket over the phone to India from USA on October 28th 2008 and immediately got a confirmation email within 2-4 hrs timeframe. However, it too several repeated phone calls(each lasting 30-40 min), emails and online chats and was then only able to get the actual E-ticket numbers on Nov 8th 2008...

My credit card was charged within 24 hrs and yet it took them about 10 days to issue E-ticket numbers...

Most other travel websites like Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline provide E-ticket numbers within 4-8 hrs(or max 24hrs)

Also, the online fare quote is different than the fare quoted over the phone and once I realized this, I called MakeMyTrip to seek any recourse and its been about close to a month and there has been absolutely no response from them...

MakeMyTrip is an OK site to compare fare(s) but I don't recommend buying from them...

my 2 cents...

I have checked quite a few websites for cheap tickets to India and travelocity is a good one however, We fly continental mostly and lately I have realised that the cheapest airfare for them is through their own website. So thats where I go now unless some other airline has a really good deal.

Sorry you had a bad experience with makemytrip.com. :(

I had a good experience with the same place. I booked my husband's India to USA ticket on makemytrip.com, from USA, over a chat session (May 2007). Within an hour or two I got the confirmation email and the eticket number, and it was the exact price I was quoted. My husband had a nice journey with all timings as exactly stated on the ticket (and it was a long trip with several flight changes!).

Maybe the flight you booked was already full or changed or something, and you had that problem. Are you going to visit India soon? Happy journey!

Eileen, Lucky you, you got your E-ticket in couple of hours. I had to wait for 10 days and you know how airfares can change in that time-frame...

Yep..will be flying home in early December for 3 weeks..can't wait

I don't usually post reviews but MMT(MakeMyTrip) recently tested my patience and I just lost it and when I couldn't get any response for well over 25 days, I gave up and decided to post my experiences here...

I don't think the flight was full. I was able to log into the airline website(am flying AirFrance) and did get a lower fare..

The ridiculous part was that MMT wanted proof of lower fare(phone quote vs their own online website).. Luckily, I had saved several screen shots of their website fares and also that of AirFrance website fares(which was even cheaper) and emailed them but to no avail...

When are you visiting home? soon perhaps?

I came to USA on K-1 Visa in the month of March 2008 and I have the interview on Jan 6, 2009. I had all my vaccinations done at Apollo hospital in New Delhi prior to interview and the famous sealed envelop was submitted at the embassy counter for K-1 interview. Now the interview letter says I-693 form to submit unless you have submitted in the past. I did not submit it with my AOS and there were no RFE'S, please suggest.

Sorry again for the really awful experience second_stage, hope it was a rare case at makemytrip. I probably would have written a bad review too, if we had your experience! Nagu wants to visit India but don't know when, hopefully some time next year. In fact, we both want to return there to live permanently, in a few years. India is more like home to both of us! :star:

Cuteprince, your medical was submitted less than a year ago, so you don't need to do it again. The sealed packet with medical is safe in your file, which the local office will have at the time of the interview, so don't worry about that. HOWEVER, if you did not get a vaccination supplement form at a civil surgeon here in USA, I would suggest doing it now, and bringing it to the interview.
