I am coming to visit in 3 days time :D to the initial question I will say that I am coming to visit friends and to travel (this is true since I am lucky to have friends in the area that my fiance lives.) if asked further I will tell them I will be staying with my fiance.

Personally I plan to be totally honest when asked, but not to bring up anything myself that could either bring up a red flag of confuse them. I am also going to a wedding of a friend and a re-enactment event. I will have details of all this with me if I need to explain myself further, but I am keeping it simple at first.

It seems it's 16 months since he was last in the US, he should be fine.

I would still bring ties to the UK. What you give as the reason is up to you.. many people here say vacation or visiting friends and family, but I've said boyfriend and fiance many times in the past.

No idea what will happen on a given day.

My fiance is coming here in 6 days and we had the same concern. They have asked him to show his return ticket before but after the first 8 visits they don't give him problems whether he says travel or his favorite "I am here to see my sweetheart." For some reason that is enough for them to wave him through. It really is nice to hear everyone getting together for some quality time. :star:

How did you come to the UK for 6 Months? What visa were you here on?

Errr, I have said girlfriend in the past and been OK. The last time I got pulled for further questioning as I had a denied B2 Tourist visa. I was kind of expecting it like. I had brought stuff to show ties but all he did was go speak to Deanna who was waiting for me. Then he asked how much money I had. Asked why I was shaking (I was nervous obviously, this guy decides if I get to see my Love), then he searched my luggage, came back and then called me over....

"Have a nice time"

Phew!!!

So yeah, I am going to leave it a bit before I go back to the US. Just to play it safe.

I'm sure you will fine. Just be honest and have an attitude. Be polite and be yourself.

Good Luck and I am very jealous as I don't know when I will see Deanna again.

I'd just say visiting...and bring lots of backup info in case it goes further for questioning. I would keep your answers short and to the point. I wouldn't lie, but no sense giving details that may make them think twice. GOOD LUCK and have fun!!

hey all!

My fiance is coming to visit for the holidays when he goes through customs and they ask who he is visiting is it ok to say his fiance or are they going to think he has no intention of going back home?

I visited my fiance the first week of Oct for a couple of weeks and I had no problem with going through customs what so ever.

I actually asked the same question on this forums and some people suggested me not to volunteer but I decided to be honest cuz I was not comfortable with an idea of not being 100% honest when I was doing nothing but just visitng my fiance. And it turned out just fine. When I told the officer that I was here to see my fiance he only asked me when we are getting married and how long I was staying in the states. I prepared all kinda back-up documents for just in case with my return ticket but he didnt ask any of those at all.

So I say just be honest and tell the truth. I know that some people couldnt wait for their Visa to be approved and got married in the states ,overstayed or did something they were not supposed to do but you have spent a lots of time and money to only do things in right way so dont get too nervous and stay calm.

I will visit my finace for holidays again the next month and I will be honest with an interview officer at customs.

PS. We have received our NOA2 letter the last week by the way. We got our NOA1 on 4th Aug 08 so hopefully you will get NOA2 soon too! Good luck and have a nice&safe trip

I've visited the US to see my husband about 20 times over the last three years. It's included times when he was just my boyfriend, through fiance to husband. The last four times have been during the visa process.

In recent vists I've said (when asked) that I am staying with my husband. I've never been asked anything about the visa process or for any proof of return - although I have always had with me

- a return ticket

- a letter from work saying when I was expected back in the office

- a letter from my landlady saying I had a continuing lease with her

- a couple of bills/bank statements showing ongoing commitments in the UK

The only extra questions I have ever been asked after saying I was there for a vacation have been

- what job do you do?

- who is doing the driving while you are over here(!)
