Hello! Our interview is scheduled on Dec. 15, 2008 in San Jose, California. One of the documents listed to bring to the interview is the Birth Certificate of the US citizen. My problem is that my husband doesn't have a copy of his birth certificate. He only has a baptismal certificate. He claims that is what he used also when he became a US citizen in the '80s. Do you think we need to still get a copy of his birth certificate from the Philippines? That would take several weeks if I would request it from our country. DO you think that it will be a big deal if we didn't have that document? We have his Certificate of Naturalization. Our only problem is the birth certificate. I hope someone can help me out with this problem. thanks!

They did not ask for my birth certificate at the interview. A US passport or certificate of naturalization is evidence of US citizenship.

They did check my passport, and he needs to bring his certificate of naturalization as well.

Thank you so much for your reply!
