hey all!

filed AOS @ end of May/08...NOA June 5/08...

got a letter from Minnesota State Department of . that i needed to supply a new extended residency document in order to keep my Driver's license...was kinda freaked cause i haven't heard anything back from DHS in months regarding my AOS...although i did get my AP...YAY!!!...

however i did get a letter a week ago stating that my case had been passed along to the California processing offices...i thought, hmmmm...that would be a good thing to take into the licensing office to show that my case is still being processed...

ladies @ office here in MN gave me a hard time saying "well...if that's all you have...i guess we'll just send that but i don't know if it will work"...and they charged me another $13.50...i got home and called the number on the letter and the girl assured me that they just need the most recent doc sent to me and that the state dept office can check out my case status with my case number...and that i needn't have been charged...i called the office back here in "small-town" MN and let them know this...of course the lady had to confirm this herself by calling the State office...

she called me back to say that my check would be waiting for me to pick up...i thanked her and told her about what the girl that i had talked to told me about the State dept being able to look up my case info and she told me that that was not what the man she had talked to had led her to believe...she said that she had been told that the document didn't sound like it would be sufficient...

now...is she just being an ### because i got her fingers slapped for taking money when she didn't need to...which i'm sure happens all the time...or does anyone think this letter won't be enough..

if it's not...how do i get a document updating my status for these morons?????...ugh!!!...LOL...frustrating...my husband is travelling a lot lately for work and i really need to keep my license...

any info is appreciated and welcome folks!!!!!

Each state has slightly different regulations designed to keep illegal aliens from getting IDs and Drivers Licenses. In Virginia that document would be fully acceptable as evidence that the U.S. government is aware of you :)
