w'hy did the guy want to kill jacob?

The specifics aren't clear, but they a had three century+ rivalry. They may have been the last two people alive from two warring factions; something like that seems to be suggested by their conversation at the beginning of the episode.

I think it had more to do with the fact that that guy was tired of Jacob toying with people's lives... at least that is what I got out of their conversation...
