Hello guys, i have questions for those who already filed for AOS and for those who are in process or anyone who knows. IS there any time frame when to file adjustment of status? Is it really mandatory to apply it within the 90 days from entry here in US? or did anyone/anybody who applied more those 90 days. I admit the fact that money is the real hindrance to apply right away.we are still saving for it. Can anyone pls answer my question, i really appreciate it.Thank you and God bless.

Hi there, it's been 8 months since my I-94 expired, money was the problem too.. and finally I'm filing mine tomorrow!! You're good sis, I have asked about this at every forum I could get on, it's ok if it'll be late than 90 days. They just recommend to file for AOS within that time frame for status wise. I have read somewhere that a couple haven't filed yet, and it's been a year already..

11-12-2008 Sent AOS, EAD, AP via USPS

11-13-2008 USCIS received the papers @ 3pm!

11-20-2008 3 NOAs

11-24-2008 check cashed

01-05-2009 Recieved Biometrics Letter on mail

01-12-2009 AP approved! / EAD touched

01-29-2009 Biometrics Done

01-30-2009 AOS Touched

03-09-2009 EAD Card Production ordered

04-07-2009 Interview

06-23-2009 Re-scheduled interview.. approved!

when will I file I-751?

Hi, thank you so much for your reply. At least i have more info now. One thing that bothers me here is getting an SSN. SSA here in WA keep telling us that i am not allowed to get/apply for SSN , we should file for adjustment of status before we can get one. So stupid, I heared a lot of under K1 who have theirs after 2 weeks-1 month. Anyways, if that's what they want. I don't want to stress myself too much for that. You have a nice evening. God bless

welcome.. with your SSN, I wonder why you can't get yours, I got one a month after I got here, all you have to is show them your I-94.. then I went back to their office the day after we got married to have my SSN changed to my married name, and I was able to, because it was just exactly 2 weeks before my I-94 expires.. That's weird if they say you're not allowed to apply for one. I read somewhere here that some SSN offices don't know that they can issue SSN for K1 visa holders, that could be a reason why. What I did was printed out a file at SS website that says they issue SSN for K visa holders, I have it in my hand to show in case the person we're going to talk to don't know about it, but we got a very nice lady that knows about it.

goodluck

If you tried to apply for a SSN 'after' you got married then what would be the cause of the problem..so I've heard a few hundred times. The best of luck!!

Well for SSN true some don't know you are allowed to apply for it, so it would be good to print out informations stating that you are allowed to apply for one, if you click on the guides above you ll get informations covering that, the only problem you ll have is if your I-94 is about expiring then they would ask you to wait to adjust status first before applying.

Well goodluck either way.

PS applying for ssn after marriage isnt a problem, if you take your marriage certificate along with you, they ll document it and whats better? you get your ssn in your marriage name.
