Lance and I have known each other for 5 years. Our families know each other...my mom went to school with his father. I already know about the culture/his element because I am from there. I wasn't concerned about making visits because before our relationship began I was already making 2-3 visits a year to see family and for business reasons. Wechose to do the CR1 because we would like for him to be able to work when he gets here and to be able to travel back in case of an emergency and although I miss him like hell and wish he was here with me right now, I'm in no rush because we have the rest of our lives together.....so the choice on which visa to file for is definetly a personal one. :star:

Not meaning to sound ignorant. WHAT IS A DAYUM CR1? Please dont refer me to the pluckin immigration guide like some smart ### did. Just please give me the short clean answer....

No Coffee this morning. Sorry a Biotch is just a little cranky today lmao

Hey Journee...to file for the CR1 you have to be married. After approval your husband will be able to file for a SSN and work. He'll also be allowed to leave the country for travel...if you were married at least 2 years upon approval, he'll get a 10-year green card (IR1)...if you were married for less than two years upon approval he'll get a 2-year green card...i think thats the jist of it (somebody correct me if i'm wrong)

It varies...hubby received his EAD in 64 days. Some take longer. He received his AP early because it was expidted since his mom died back in August, but for some reason they sent us another one in October. So we have 4 APs

it basically stands for Conditional Resident/Residency. Meaning...you enter the US as a permanent resident of the United States just on a 2 year conditional status. The condition comes from being married less than 2 years. If longer than 2 years married you get an IR1 visa....Immigrant Resident....no conditions...10 year green card instead of 2 year.

GREAT breakdown guys, thanks Sol..

Rg and I had been thinking CR1 lately becuz we want him to be able to work but looks like CR1 costs are just 1 trip away from being K1 (DFW to the caribbean is no less than $400) we would have AT LEAST 3 visits while we wait on the CR1.. I think u mentioned this before JG and now it is clear to me.

I know 3 mnths with no work would be hard, but might be doable??? Back to the drawing board LOL

Quana I think some people have waited longer than 3 months for the EAD tho are you willing to wait longer than 3 months for EAD?

Opportunities are like sunrises - if you wait too long, you miss them.

I'm trying to figure out the benefit and pros and cons of each filing status. I know that there is a big difference in completion times amongst each category so I decided to break it down by cost. I know that if I chose CR1 the wait is longer and that will lead to more travel expenses and phone calls etc. Ok this is what I pieced together using the g-1055 and the flowcharts. Please fill in what you know and your opinion on each I am trying to get a clear picture of how everything works and a estimate on costs. Thanks
