Just not defense spending hey, that's good spending. How about the two wars at a cost of over $1 trillion, which is on top of the annual one trillion plus spent on defense.

As has already been pointed out many many times before [using actual data] that other countries spend more, yet are doing well - better actually.

Your type wants to apparently "pay off debt", yet do not want to get another job [aka tax] or cut spending wasted - poured down the toilet - on going out [defense].

Where do you want to cut back? Where us but utilities. Why do you need a light on right? It's a luxury.

my type? You don't know my type dude, so shut your hole.

I believe in being responsible from the onset, which both parties have shown time and time again they don't know what they are doing. You can blame Republicans for the war all you want, but Democrats have continued to funded and VOTED FOR IT to begin with as well. So both parties hold an equal blame..... How about the "pull out" of Iraq that is happening, yet they're being replaced with private contractors still paid by US Tax dollars... it's old and sick all around. Of course, you haven't seen me once condone the war in the nature in which things are.... but you can keep day dreaming if you think I have been for it.

Politicians should have to sacrifice their salary, benefits, etc.. until they get a budget right that is balanced and allows us to start paying off our debt to the FED (not China folks...).

You need laws that keep jobs here, and not allow them to jump ship. This 'free trade' low to no tariff bullshit has gotten us into a HUGE mess with domestic production and manufacturing...

There are plenty of things we can do to fix our economy, but none of them are possible because our politicians are too busy with their thumbs up their butts thinking on a linear level versus realizing we need to start from scratch and fix ALOT of montetary policy first before we'll ever recover.

Fiscal type. I know you better than I know the back of my hand.

But it's not dems crying about money here, it's repubs. It's quite clear that Repubs don't care if the country borrows and spends $200 trillion, as long as it's on the things they deem important - like defense.

Politicians should have to sacrifice their salary, benefits, etc.. until they get a budget right that is balanced and allows us to start paying off our debt to the FED (not China folks...).

Politicians barely earn squat in this country anyway, so you get what you pay for, however I do agree. Their salaries should be linked to performance, especially the Repub politicians, considering they love the private sector approach oh so much. So do I, so lets start with their salaries. After all, they are effectively the board of the country.

Free trade works and brings in billions to America. I also think the country is suffering because it has not focused abroad like everyone else does. The money is not in the US anymore and that is the reality.

There are plenty of things we can do to fix our economy, but none of them are possible because our politicians are too busy with their thumbs up their butts thinking on a linear level versus realizing we need to start from scratch and fix ALOT of montetary policy first before we'll ever recover.

The problem here is that we have a difference in ideology on treatment. We have a child here who is sick and those from he left and those of us from first world countries want to give it medication, to get better. The right wing here disagrees and feels the child should just be left alone, to ride it through.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Politics isn't supposed to be about a salary or making money.... It's about wanting a better country for everyone.

There are very few and far between these days who actually want that and don't have their own greedy motives or who are easily corrupted once they get there by the establishment...

Term limits would do us all very well.

Yeah I hear that about a number of things in the US, especially regarding education. Apparently they should do it for the love of the kids rubbish. Yet then people are shocked at the US now being ranked 25th in the world for education. Same deal with government, treat and pay them like #######, then complain about the service. Welcome to 2010 US of A.

The old adage 'you get what you pay' for seems to have slipped Americans, as has pay peanuts get monkeys.

Dude the system is a joke, why else would you even have mid-term elections? Everyone should be up for election at the same time and everyone should serve the same term, as is the case in a number of other developed countries - like most. Two years for a house-rep is just irrational, as is six years for senators, that can be voted indefinitely.

Since you didn't include any facts to back up your BS, I hope you don't mind if I do?
