Is annyone planning to travel to Pakistan beginning of 2009?

Hello! I want to go to Pakistan the beginning of 2009 between January-March. I am flexible about my dates. I just want to know if anyone wants to travel together, I had a really hard time traveling alone last time. People tried to take advantage of the situation of a woman traveling alone. I really felt uncomfortable and scared at times and they over-charged me on many occasions in Pakistan airport as well. I do not want to go through this same scenario again. If anyone wants to gather the same itinerary and travel the same it'd be great. Also, where can we purchase the same itinerary and low airfare? I do not want to pay a large amount. Last time I paid $1995+ tax-Delta/Emirates, I would prefer something a little under that if at all possible. I do not know which airlines most people generally take, the times I have traveled it has always been on Delta/Emirates but I am open to other suggestions. I saw US Airways and Qatar Airlines had a $1500+tax rate for February-March. Anyway, if you want to travel with me please let me know by sending me a private message and please tell me which airport you leave from. Unless you live in my same state we would most likely have to meet at an airport or something to travel the same path. I am sure we can get a travel agent to work out the details if we have an early enough notice. Thank you!

I wouldn't mind traveling together. You can message me. Not sure if I can gather the funds in time to confirm the dates together though, but maybe we can work something out. It is often hard to match up flights when not living in the same area. Which airport do you take? Are you going through ATL or JFK? I have been to both of those. Where do you live? Get back to me!

To DreamLove, Lovebirds--have you checked the (Urdu or English) newspapers from Pak-owned restos/grocers near your locations?

There will oft be travel agents listed in these who can offer excellent deals.

(edit: many travel agents who cater to Indian-Americans also have good deals to Pakistan; so you can also check Indian grocers, and the papers there)

For my MIL's trip from India, I picked up "Express India" paper from the Indian grocer in Catonsville--and got a ticket price at least $200 cheaper than even CheapoAir through one of the travel agents listed!

I live in KY myself but I do not know where she lives. I can meet her in DC or NY. I just need our itinerary to match up. Dh says it is ok to go to Lahore. So, we will stay in Lahore for a few days then transfer to Karachi if that's kool. But, where can we find a cheap hotel in Lahore?

How about using European carrier (such as British Airways or Lufthansa) from BWI instead of even bothering about JFK or EWR?

I live in KY myself but I do not know where she lives. I can meet her in DC or NY. I just need our itinerary to match up. Dh says it is ok to go to Lahore. So, we will stay in Lahore for a few days then transfer to Karachi if that's kool. But, where can we find a cheap hotel in Lahore?

I want to travel together for the most part. Where can we view these carriers? I do not like JFK to be honest with you. Do you know a way from SDF to Dulles and Dulles to Lahore? Please help me, I can't find anything suitable.

I saw some tickets with Continental and Emirates for $1469 tax incl. but she wants to take PIA. I hear PIA is not the same class as Emirates? I never used them. I have used Delta/Emirates everytime.

Lots of domestic options (including Southwest and NWA--the latter actually turns out cheaper, as well as shorter) for SDF-IAD.

I say we all meet on here end of December with itineraries in mind ad ready to buy soon afterwards b/c the prices will skyrocket therafter. I think we should buy no later than last week of Dec first week of Jan.
