Incorrect middle name for beneficary on I-130/129F form

I just learned that in the Philippines that my wifes last name changed as expected but that her middle name also changed so it is now her maiden name. When I submitted the I-130 and I-129F I used her middle name at birth. She is changing her passport and DFA is saying they need use the Philippines format of first name, maiden name, spouse surname.

How do I correc the I-130 and 129 now that they are submitted.

Thanks much. I will give them a call first thing in the morning. Hopefully it is easy and does not cause any delays.

My husbands name is mispelled on his passport, but we used that name as not to cause any issues. I emailed the embassy and they said that he could change his passport and they would issue the visa based on the visa name.

I guess my question is this...

Could changing a name on a pending application effect background checks, I wonder?

To the OP, if you do sucessfully change it on the petitions, let us know please :)

Lisa

Maybe I want to use that typo error trick anyway ;)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I would expect that backgound checks would be affected but since both the I-130 and I-129F were submitted earlier this month and not touched since then there really should not be any going on. Plus in the alias her maiden name is listed which simply became her middle name. After I call USCIS tomorrow I will update this issue so we know. Thanks for the response.

is the name on the g-325 correct ? if so I would try the typo trick. it worked for us. I would think the background check would have a lot to do with the info on the g-325 and birth certificate. if those two are correct, I think you will be fine. and also it was my wifes middle name that was not correct. good luck and remember I am not a lawyer, I'm just telling you what worked for us...

Thanks. The g-325 has the same issue. But I am going to try the typo approach. I plan on calling them at 8am CDT today and see what happens.

As long as current and prior names are provided in the "other names used" space on the form, it shouldn't cause a problem. Just make sure to put names on the visa application forms that are consistent with those in the passport.

I just finished talking to USCIS and it was really easy. They took it as a typo error and submitted one service reqeust for the I-130 and another for the I-129f. That saves me some stress. Thanks for the all help everyone.
